The Waiting Game begins!

Just tossed a package in the mail to Bob Ridley.

Does anyone else feel panic everytime they mail a watch?

And then the daily anxiety about how it's doing?

Maybe I'm just a nutcase.

I feel the most relaxed when it is USPS Registered/Insured.

But yes.........I do feel a little anxiety.

I really feel anxiety when i mail a watch to someone with the hope that they will mail me one back too. Though i just traded a watch with our own JimSnyder and i had no anxiety about it at all. Plus...he referred me to this forum..THANKS JIM!!

I hand delivered a watch to Bob last week and called the office yesterday to get a status. It takes about 2 weeks, but I figured 1 1/2 weeks was a good time for an update.

I should have it back in my hands next week. I can't wait to see how it looks when I get it back.

Bob has had my baby since the 15 of March, I am trying to be patient! I am in the watch business and know how long it can take, but I am still chewing on my finger nails in anticipation. I swear I have only sent him two emails:-)

Panic and anxiety are not unusual. When watches arrive (at Ridley's), we scarcely start opening the package before the owner is the phone, "Did you get my watch? The tracking number shows it was delivered..."

Perhaps it would alleviate concerns if y'all attached a micro GPS tracker to your watch before shipping? You could monitor its advance, mile by mile, step by step, right to our doorway...call me when it is arriving to walk me through the alarm deactivation process...sleep in peace knowing the perilous journey was successfully completed.

This is a marvelous Idea. I will work on a tracking chip this weekend, and hopefully a wrist device that shows the location. Bond Style.

Please be sure NOT to include an "autodetonate" button, okay?

Guys, I think we are lucky enough to have Barbara from Bob Ridley's shop in our midst. She is the key organizational piece of the puzzle for that operation

I just spoke with Barbara about my 5513 currently with Bob, she has a wonderful sense of humor and gave me an update on my baby. If their customer service is any indication, then I am sure my watch is in the best hands possible!

Andy, your watch couldn't be in better hands. Bob is world class as I am sure you know by now. I was in Bob's shop last week to pick up my grail personally. He is truly an artist and a horological master.

Also, Barbara is a joy! She is definitely an excellent addition…especially when dealing with anxious onwers like ourselves ;)

Don't you worry Josh...Bob is the man, that's for sure. All the staff there were truly amazing to deal with.

I found what helped me through my "loss "period was being fortunate enough to have another Rolex to wear.Would have felt rather naked for those long weeks without one!

Hang in there....it will be well worth the wait!

Yeah if I didnt have another Rolex to wear, I would likely be going out of my mind.

I'm in no way concerned with Bob not taking care of my watch, I know for a fact he will.

Just the whole loss period always has me pacing.

Very nice to be here, Chris. I've been watching from the sidelines for a while, trying to learn bits & pieces. Now, when someone calls us about a "PN Tropical..." I know just enough to be respectfully in awe. Three months ago, I'd have thought they were referring to some combination of coconut and liquor....

Latest anti-anxiety remedy:

Shoot me an email, and for $100 earnest money (non-refundable, goes toward your final invoice) I'll enter you on our job list before you even think about shipping your watch out. This way you can keep your baby at home until we absolutely have to have it here to work on!

Anything to make things easier, Josh! There's more separation anxiety around here (via mail/phone) than at the bus stop corner the first day of school!
