Submariner Production History

I recently purchased an iPhone app that covers the history of each Rolex Submariner Reference from the 6200 to the 16610LV. I also have an app that coveres the same information for the GMT.

The GMT app has a pretty nifty chart that shows what years each reference was produced. I thought I would compile the information in the Sub app to create a similar (although less pretty) chart.

It was a nice little exercise for me to go through on a business flight to California. I learned quite a bit about the history of the Sub. It's also a good way to quickly glance at the full history and get some relative idea of the "rarity" of specific models.

I hope the information is correct...feel free to provide corrections.

Enjoy!

16610LV was made from 2003 to 2010.

Many thanks! That's pretty good!!!

I think the 168000 may have been around a tad earlier. I bought my first Rolex in 1986 and it was 168000. Sold it a few years ago to buy a 16610 and have regretted it since! You should always hang onto your first Rolex!!!!

Now looking for a 1962 Sub 5512/5513 as a 'birth year' watch and can see why there aren't many around!!

Got a thing for this one at the mo!!

Thanks again!

Andy

It's also nice to see the overlap between various models over the years.

You can find the serial number on the edge of the case (remove the bracelet) that will give you an estimate of the production year when you correlate the serial number to the various production date lists found on the web.

This is interesting. So in 1977-1978, there were 7 variants of the sub being produced? I never would have known!

It's so easy to read. Great job.

You have the 16610LV, so I don't think it's complete without the 116610LV.

still so unbelievable that the 168000 doesn't cost AT LEAST 10.000 euro or 15.000 USD
Such a rare piece

btw, I think it was only made about 9 months and not 2 years
