Awsome pictures. Patek Philippe makes the best movements.

Great PICs, nothing like a Patek. Thanks for sharing James.

Nice photos James.
I take it that your 5146, is quite new?
If so have you checked to see whether it has got the Silinvar spring fitted?
During the course of the past 12 months and on the quite Patek started to replace the Breguet spring with the newer one in some of their movements, which included the 324.

These springs were first tested in their Advanced Research models, such as their 5250.

Regards
Tony

Hi Tony. Bought July 2010, but no idea how long it had been sitting in the shop. How would I check for a Silinvar spring?

Cheers,

James

Take a look at the balance spring, using a loupe if possible and the spring should be blue or appear blue in colour.

James, looking at your first photo, the spring certainly looks blue. :)

Yes, I think so too. Thanks for the heads-up! I had to take about 50 shots before I got one with the balance (almost) stationary.

I like how you own a Patek, A Rolex Sub (and god only knows what else) yet your profile states 'Tissot'
The Tissot Seastar Automatic's my favourite. It was my 14th birthday present, and is really responsible for my interest in watches.

Patek Philippe: one of the few brands to make Rolex look cheap by comparison. Gorgeous movement, some lovely detailing on it

Cheers guys. One more, narrow aperture, long exposure for a better depth of field.
