Would you wear a Rolex for a job interview?

Hi Folks, I was just wondering if it is advisable to wear a Rolex watch for a job interview. I am an IT professional and in these hard economic times, I do not want to send the wrong impression to a potential employer. What do you think?

By the way, I have a Royal Blue, V serial, TT SubC with diamonds.

I would say... No, unless it's you only have Rolex's because I think it's better to wear the Rolex then no watch. If you do go with a Rolex, just don't take the SubC with diamonds lol

I totally disagree.owning a Rolex is nothing to be ashamed of. It shows that you are hard worker and enjoy fine timepieces (since you could afford it). If the employer wants to hold you in contemt for owning a Rolex, then you need look else where for a job. Your interviewer may be right fully concerned that one day he may be WORKING FOR YOU........no need to flaunt it, but also no need to leave it at home either......

Yes, to a WIS this is the message that a Rolex will send. Unfortunately, to the average person, a Rolex could send the wrong message :-(

Almost no one pays attention to our Rolex watches unless we draw attention to them. Wear it. You're far more interested in it than anyone else.

Everyone on here knows it's only us that cares about what watches we and others are wearing, right?!

The Rolex doesn't send the messge...The person wearing the Rolex sends the message. Nothing wrong with wearing a Rolex to an interview.

Wear it.

Outcome A: No one notices; you win and get the job.
Outcome B: They/He/She notices; and they/he/she acknowledges you have been successful in the past, are successful in the present (because you obviously haven't pawned it seeking shelter), and will be successful in the future. Cool caveat- they/he/she conducts zero research regarding the -Congratulations you've got the job take you out to lunch discussion topic.

For all intensive purposes, you will be wearing a long sleeved dress shirt and or a suit jacket. I don't think the rolex would stick out by any means....

Unless the interviewer is a WIS!

Wearing a Rolex could be a good luck charm, on a serious note, im in IT and its your qualifications and attitude what sells you, not your watch. In my previous role I was managing a team and needed someone with specific skills. It did not matter what you look like, I needed that skill set and to work a specific working schedule (shift work). Whoever had the correct skills and agreed to working hours got the job.

Even better if it was for minimum pay so that you can get the big fat bonus at the end of the year?

I did and I did get the job and beat out 47 other people and a massive group interview. Don't know if the mystical powers of da rolex did it.

Depending on what you wear ( long sleeve) , chances are good no one will notice.

Especially if its a SS (or WG). from a metre or two away lots of watches look similar to those not interested.

I'm sorry, but a vast majority could care less what watch you're wearing, unless it's got erotic "art" on it or something offensive.

Thanks Guys, I was a bit concern that the folks at the interviewing panel may look upon me as priviledged, and lower my chances for getting the job.

Wear a Rolex to a job interview? Sure, perhaps one of the more discreet ones anyway.

Yes, of course. The interviewer(s) are unlikely to even notice it unless you go out of your way to draw attention to it; which would not be a good idea.

Depends on the job you're interviewing for and on the Rolex you're wearing!

This question is a little vague. There are too many variables.

I can certainly imagine interviews and Rolexes where it would be a faux pas to combine the two, and conversely I can hypothesize a situation where it would serve you to do so.

ps...I'd also say, if they're not into Rolex they won't notice it anyway. And if they are...you have something in common.
