The YACHTMASTER I club ... owners thread

Well, I've seen such a post for the GMT and another sporty rolex.
I made the same thread for the green sub 16610 LV

But I don't know if there is such a special thread for the YACHTMASTER

I'm not yet an owner but hope to buy one somewhere in the future.

The YACHTMASTER I is imo the most underappreciated Rolex

Somethimes it's called the captains submariner

So if you're lucky to own one or you have some things you want to tell or ask about this gorgeous Rolex ... post it here

Comfortable due to the slimmer case, smart with the PCL and classy with the dazzling Platinum bezel and dial.

Very classy and comfortable watch.

After soo many times looking at the yachtmaster, this starts to grow on me more and more. I'm looking to purchase a white/silver dial sport watch and this might fit criteria (except for the $$). Definitely one of my future purchases....someday...

Anyone with 35mm wrist shot?? thanks

It is definitely under appreciated. If they would update the bracelet this would be at the top of my list.

I've had mine for only six months. Bought new Mid size. Wanted a bigger Rolex. Having buyers remorse because it's a little too sporty for me. I also have a 26mm two tone and I tend to wear that more. I hate when that happens!

If you look at the pics posted of the YM on this thread there seems to be different between the older ones (without rehaut engraving) and the newer ones with rehaut engraving). The older ones have more of that dazzling effect in its dial with grainy platinum while the newer ones looks uniform in the texture and colour which doesn't have as much of that dazzling effect.

I wonder what was the reason for Rolex to alter the dial, doesn't seem like an improvement to me in fact the opposite.

Mine has the rehaut engraving.

I don't think there is any difference, could it be the quality of the picture ?

Here's mine, after selling my Emergency she is now my daily wearer. Who needs another watch when you have a Yacht-Master.

I agree that the dial change was not a good one. I 'd also like to know why Rolex changed the dial texture.

Awesome Mod Jocke, Is that a Date wheel from a DJ?

I am always looking for a good mod, and I just picked up a Plat YM. I might become the second member of the Triple Red Club.

Mine has the rehaut engraving.

Does anyone have any additional info about this? I'm not having much luck with the 'search' function for this question.
I picked up a new YM I this weekend and noticed that the dial isn't as 'shimmery' in the sunlight as the older model I had a few years ago.
I need more shimmer! :-)

It's been discussed on here a lot - however I don't have any links handy or dates for when this changed.

But from what I remember hearing, there was a certain year/model where they went from a sparklier dial with darker/bolder red "Yacht-Master" to a softer/flatter dial with a thinner red font.

Hopefully experts can chime in for you.

Yes, I found a few discussions about it but couldn't find any references to the date when the change was made. No big deal really, I'm just curious about why and when it was changed.
Thanks!
