Rolex is dime a dozen on “Allure of the Sea” cruise ship

In my social circle, I am one of few who wear Rolex.
I notice more Rolies in my work place but still minority.

Then last week, my wife & I went on a cruise with Royal Caribbean – Allure of the Sea …
I expected to see some Rolexes but … Oh Myyy … it truly is dime a dozen there.
Almost all men wear Rolex; and they mostly are shiny new ceramic Sub or TT GMT ii model. I also noticed several all gold Presidents with the older gents. There are some ladies with Datejust too.

It’s just quite a view seeing that many Rolexes on one sun deck.
where else do you notice where Rolex are the majority?

btw,
I tried to start a conversation, “oh hi, that’s a great GMT Master!”
His response, “No, it’s a Rolex”
I said, “oh yes. Great watch!”.
That’s it. I decided to shut up for the rest of the cruise

Thank you.

I feel the sport model has more robust/solid feel. Specially when adjusting the time .. dunno maybe due to the size & weight.
I keep telling my wife that my Rolex is better than hers and she rolls her eyes ....

I was in a similar situation on a Cathay flight to Singapore.
Everyone in business class, except for one, was wearing a Rolex. Amazing!

That's a common mistake made by most WIS, just because we are fanatics about watches doesn't mean everyone else is, even though they have a nice watch.

I had a similar experience at a BBQ... A fella had been going on about how he was a pilot... I mentioned his Rolex and asked if it was a GMT or a GMT II... He said "it's the Pilot one". ...Ahh, I said. I didn't bother mentioning that it also looked like it was badly made in Bangkok!

I've tried to start conversations with the same result. All people care about is that it's a Rolex, they know nothing else.

That's hilarious...

Lots of folks seem NOT to know the model of their Rolex. I cannot imagine a Ford Taurus owner not knowing they had a Taurus but simply a Ford.

Me and the family were on the Allure too about 2 weeks back. I was wearing a Pam 24, and was only really looking for other Pams. :)

I saw one Pam 88. Rolexes are harder for me to spot withought being obvious and looking ultra geeky. Plus, so many fakes out there. My eyes aren't so great, but even with my glasses I find it hard to get a good look at someone's watch unless it's a Pam which is hard to miss even with Mr. McGoo's eyes. :)

I just scored a new Sub C, might be a dime a dozen, but it's my dime. :) A whole bunch of them actually.

Vegas, New York, and the AD I frequent. There are some places where you see more than others. A cruise like you are talking about doesn't suprise me.
