Clock questions?
Anyone know any nice wall clock makers? I am looking for a couple nice wall clocks and maybe a mantel clock. Thanks

I have a mantel clock, it is actually called the "Mantel Clock" by the maker Stickley so naturally I have it on a bookcase.
I quite like it, the hourly gongs remind me of my grandparents home when I was little. It is a German movement and keeps remarkably good time, you can adjust it by moving a weight on the pendelum. I wind it twice a week.

Sorry for the low quality quick pics. The first is an Atmos clock by LeCoultre. The brass is kinda dated but it's a cool mantel clock. The second is an antique (200+ years) made from onyx (I believe) and extremely heavy. I like it because it is unique.

For those unfamiliar with the Atmos, it is as close as possible to a perpetual motion machine. It does not need batteries, nor does it need winding! Just left alone, it will run indefinately, ie. for decades!!! The secret? It uses minute changes in temparature and pressure changes in the surrounding air. A change as small as 1 degree Celcius is all that is needed!!! These clocks are often given to heads of state and presidents as gifts! Just wish I could afford one! Here is the Marc Newson I want

I've been known to make a few clock cases (I buy the movements), but my work isn't for sale.

Depends on your budget. Kieninger makes some nice wall clocks but they are hard to find in the US.
Sattler is another German company that makes fine clocks. Do a little google on those two names.

Do you want antique or new? Wooden case, or something else? Gazo, a US company, made outstanding and gorgeous wall and grandfather clocks, though the company stopped production in the 1980s, I think. They tend to be ornately carved, but if this is your style there are a few around for sale but they are pricey.

You could mount some of the HUGE "wrist" watches on the wall and they'd work just fine!
