I know there is the difference on the font on the writing on these but are there any other differences? Will the mk1 one day be more sought after?

Short answer no just like any other modern day Rolex perhaps in 30-40 years..

Agreed - not much difference now, but maybe in the future....as for the fonts, I really like the MK 2 as it more closely resembles the original which I LOVE and wear every day.....that I'm not wearing my SS Daytona!!

I think the lettering and the crown is different I have a Mk2 and I personally like the style better I think it says Rolex to me more.

Thanks for that johnny. I'll have to inspect sone detailed photos and see what the difference is in the crown. One thing that please me immensely is that when screwed in the Rolex logo sits perfectly straigght between the crown guards, every other Rolex I have had this has really annoyed me as the have always been sideways or upside down. Small things eh!

Can assure that the crown will not line up all the time in your watches life and who looks at the crown anyway while on wrist.And who or what dictates that the crown has to be straight up anyway its a winding crown nothing more.Do all your tyre valves and brand logos line up on your car when you stop and park.

It's never en a deal breaker when buying a Rolex, I have owned over 10 and it just really pleased me that it lined up. No real biggy.

I know I'm a newbie here, and that the crown thing has been beat to death, but chill...if it makes him happy/"pleases" that his crown lines up straight or whatever let it be.

It's his watch and he's happy about it, that's all that matters.

I believe the Rolex crown on the dial of earlier Deepseas (mark 1) is thinner and taller.

Also the "S'' in the words "Deepsea'' and "Seadweller'' is different, as well as the "f'' in "ft'' (it's longer in the mk 1).

Correct. MK1 for me all the way. I don't like the new crown logo at all.

I have an m series and son has latest dssd and the only noticeable difference is the 'f' in 'ft' is longer. The 's' in deepsea and seadweller looks pretty much the same as does the logo on the crown. As for the m series(1st issue) being worth more in the future well I very much doubt it. At the end of the day they're both deepsea's and IMO would be worth the same, rolex watches these days are made in too great a number to be seen as an investment. Although I was lucky enough to get mine at £4750 and 2 days after uk release so with the price now at £7070 it's resale value would be more or less what I paid may be more...! The best you can say is that rolex watches hold their value better than any other brand...so price increases are good for people who already own the watch...

+1...I believe the coronet is different in some way. I have the MK II dial and although I can see the other differences with the S and E letters, I can't pick out the differences in the dial crown.

I don't really care either way. My eyes struggle to see the differences in reality without a loop....I know because I've tried and for goodness sake don't stare at your watch while you're driving, hahaha!!!

I have a v series mk1 and to be honest I couldnt care less. Dont think one will be more collectable in the future. There will probabley be a MKiii soon.

Look at it this way if rolex change the font slighty on the next batch of deepsea's aka mark 3 does that make mark 2 collectable...IMO no I personally wouldn't pay more for a the same watch because the lettering in the font differed slightly now or in the future...! The original lv sub differed many times (font and green color on bezel) before being replaced and does not make any variation more collectable...

I blame rolex for allowing the fonts to change...now the newer version is out it does leave those with the older versions with what could be seen as a fake or visa versa. I just wish rolex would stick to one type and leave well alone. That saying I have noticed that the crown is wider on the newer version which feels and looks better so maybe I'm wrong and tweaking the watch as it goes along is the right thing to do...some would argue always get the newest version for any updates I guess...

why would it be seen as a fake? its only us WIS types who would even know about the change. there will be moe in the future so dont worry about it and enjoy your watch. i have the so called mk1 and couldnt care less if its been changed since. I bought from a AD so no worries here.

Have been able to compare both versions side by side and along with font changes the crown size has altered slightly and the crystal has a more bevelled edge where it meets the ceramic bezel...crystal looks to have increased in size, I wonder if that's where the extra weight has come from as the mark 2 is slightly heavier...? I own the mark 1 but seems there's a few adjustments on the mark 2...the mark 1 font IMO is in keeping with modern design of the watch tho

By the way I'm told by the watch repairer at local AD that the mark 1 dial can still be otained and changed if you prefer it, surprised me with the mark 2 now in the shop window...would cost £££'s to change dials over with rolex and to be honest what's point, but I suspect there will be OCD people out there that prefer the old or new dials...
