DJ 16233 Replacement Crown

Does anyone know where I can purchase a gold replacement crown for a DJ 16233, or what part number I should search for?

Mine has gotten kind of mashed, and I have always wanted to replace it. I figure I could purchase the crown, and have a local watchmaker install. Are there any other parts that should be replaced along with this? Gasket, tube, etc...?

Thanks!

My non-expert answer is-- I think the crown/gaskets/tube package is available to most watch techs who work on Rolex. I don't think it's all that expensive, either. I do occasionally see crowns for sale on eBay but don't know anything about installing them.

if you take it to a watchmaker they should be able to get one. it's pretty much just a part of regular service of the watch.

You really have to change the crown and tube as a set. (Rolex recommends 1 full turn of the crown for optimum water resistance.) I certainly wouldn't buy a used one on eBay, they are usually threaded out and worn. I guess new in the box would be OK, but there are a few different sizes. You should also replace the crystal gasket and the back gasket and have the watch pressure tested. It's probably worth it to take it to someone that has a parts account with Rolex. They really vet the people they give the accounts to for a reason. Hope this is helpful.

Yup, sounds like i'll just bring the watch in for a service with my local watch guy, and have him order the correct crown, tube, and gasket set, etc...

Thanks
