New Favorite Non-Rolex Non-Affordable Watch!

It would definately have to be the JLC Dualmatic. I just love that watch. The strap looks great on it too. One more watch I can add to my "I can't afford it" list.

I like that watch so much it just happens to be my desktop.

Don't listen to JJ, if all was equal, I would say jump on that baby in a quick way. Too bad all is not equal.

Don't be silly, Daren. That watch is way too 'adultish' for a young fella like Tyler. He needs something 'rough and tumble'....something with a coronet on it!!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think the crazy kiwi is right. I probably would look better with a sub. I now need to go throw myself out of the second story window.

Rough and tumble? That bad boy is a tank and what do you know, it can dress up as well. Don't forget, the youngster has Prom and other formal occasions ahead of him. And no he is not James Bond so the sub won't match with a tux.

I agree with Daren on this. And I also agree with Tyler... that JLC has been a fave of mine for about four years.

Wrong! Rolex is the way to go. What is Jaeger LeCoultre anyway, a fancy French shampoo? I’m deliberately being thick here, but that’s how it is. And we have to get his priorities straightened out here, so first the 16610. Don’t confuse the boy, focus, gentlemen, focus. The Sub is the basis of any fine collection and an unbeatable all purpose watch. It says: “I’m willing to spend some money but I want to spend it sensible”. It says: “I’m prepared for anything, so don’t mess with me”. It says: “I’m more of a real man that meets the eye”. (Well, it doesn’t say that, but it sounds cool).

The JLC, the Panerai, the Moon Watch and all the others will come in due time. But first the 16610!

Take care,

Frans. (The one and only GoodWatch).

I have a great solution. All I need is someone to give me about oh I'll say $12,725 USD I could buy both and not have to worry about it anymore. The day I save up enough to get either one of those, will probably be the end of the world.

I can lend you the money, but I'll have to charge 25% interest, indexed and compounded monthly.

No Tyler, this is not true (he said in a calm but authoritative tone of voice). As soon as you have a steady income, the Sub comes into reach. I was able to buy my first ‘serious’ watch (the first edition of the Cartier Santos Dumont) the year I turned 20. And even now, with good income, I have to save about a year for a Sub or SD. Just be patient and set realistic goals. You’ll get it and the reward of putting it on your wrist is enormous!

Take care,

Frans.

I resent this remark! I have so much to give to this forum. In fact, I already have but as soon as I start another of my Nobel Prize winning threads, it is hijacked. All because I’m from that great minority, the Dutch. I have feelings too, you know. Don’t think I haven’t noticed there falls an uneasy silence to this forum as soon as I enter. But I pretend not to. Now all that remains is the bottle.

Frans.

Hang on a second... I just started a new book entitled "Big Book of Dutch Jokes"... um... Okay I'm done.

What did you say Frans?

Tyler, don't listen to this man. Have you seen Austin Powers Goldmember?

Besides, when he bought that Cartier it was only listed for $45 USD. There is such a thing as inflation you know Frans.

Hey come on, that's about 3% less than some credit card companies. Besides, it's that high to make sure I get it back. Don't forget, I have connections to those who make concrete loafers.

You've got a deal JJ. It'll be good to get rid of Liz for a while. She never shuts up in algebra.
