Just got a day date 118238

Hi guys, new to the forum and a new Rolex owner. My Dad came to visit after 12 years and brought a surprise. He gave me a un-used Rolex he had for a while. He said he owned it for several years but never wore them. He thought I can make better use for it. He brought the paper work but no box.

Here are some pictures. Let me know what you guys think. First and foremost, it is real, right? This thing is really heavy.

From the response I assume it is real. Yay!!
BTW, what's the best way to source an original box? Or don't bother?
What is the value of this watch?

Well no one said it was real.. why don't you ask your dad? Why would you think he would not give you the real deal?
If you want to know.. take it to an AD, open it up and lets see the movement...

Well, who knows. Maybe my dad don't really love me and playing a prank on me. LOL

Well, he said he bought it from an AD.

Yes the watch is real.
It looks to be one of the first 118238 made, as it has the old dial and hands on it.
You can pay a few hundred dollars and get the new style dial with luminous batton markers and wider sectional hands (they look awesome).

However, in short, you are a very lucky guy, that is an awesome watch in solid 18K gold.

Yes, I deleted it, cause I looked at few post and all the one for sale has that covered for some reason. I thought it is prudent to take it off. There are no risk posting it up?

He said he is interested. Since he is getting old and retiring, he asked how much do you make. And can you take care of the elderly.

What kind of funny business? Should I be worry and never post the serial number?

Sorry, too many questions. I'm really new and green in these kind of stuff.

The picture you had didn't reveal the serial # and that's why I asked when you wondered where to find it.

Lucky you, last watch that my dad gave to me was Casio, when I was in elementary school!

Huge congrats and welcome to TRF!
