Extremely torn
Deciding between the Sub, GMT, and an Omega PO( for their deployment rubber strap, yes, I like that strap that much).
The GMT feels best on my wrist out of the box and I suppose it "sings" to me, but I know my wrist and know that during a regular day it will expand and contract enough to justify the Glidelock(I always assumed that was odd, but it obviously must not be for Rolex to make a bracelet just for that). The Omega is a fine watch and I can get both the bracelet and strap for half the cost of the either Rolex and essentially get 2 watches for 1. Don't know why I'm even posting this and I'm sure you've all heard it before. Just wanted to vent I guess... Oh well...I have 3 boys to pass down watches to in the future...I wonder which one will get the short straw... |

If you buy the omega you'll probably still want a Rolex. So why not get the Rolex first. Sounds like you prefer the GMT to me! Enjoy whatever you purchase.

GMT gets my vote, plus it has the easy link to expand on hot days.

Ask yourself which one will you be happiest with? Just get that one first. My guess is that it will be a Rolex.
If it is the GMT, you can easily get a 3rd party rubber strap like the RubberB if that's what you prefer. |

I wanted a PO, Panerai 111, or Rolex Sub-C. I thought all were great and worthy pieces of hocking a bunch of stuff and tossing a lot of cash at. The also all loosely met the criteria of handing them down to one of my two boys.
In the end the Sub-C was the one I most wanted but also the most expensive by thousands of dollars. I went Sub-C and I most certainly made the right choice, no doubt at all in my mind once it's here. I have tried on and worn the PO and the Panerai but never the Sub-C but I just knew somehow that it was the most timeless, versatile, valuable, iconic, quality timepiece and either boy would be terrifically happy to one day have it. I say go Sub-C for sure. For that matter why not get a Sub-C now and a GMT in a few years! I don't think this will be my last Rolex but it will take some significant watch fund rehabilitation to get myself into another. Two boys means 2 Rolex's in my mind! Guess you should get 3! |

PO's have poor resale value, and the AR coating on the outside of the crystal is a dealbreaker for me. I won't buy any watch with an exterior AR coating. I do realize you can remove it. I like the new Aquatimer, but the AR coating kills it for me. I saw one in an AD's case a few months ago, the AR coating was already scratched.
I voted with my dollars, Sub C! :) Ps. The Sub looks great on an Isofrane vintage looking rubber dive strap. |

Nothing wrong with the PO with the rubber strap, I'd like to get that one someday. If you buy it with the normal discount you can get, (getting smaller with Omega). You will loose less money when you sell it in a few years than you would the Rolex Sub or GMT.

I'd get the SS Sub-C LN on bracelet, and so you'd get the GlideLock if you want to fiddle with it to follow your wrist swelling. When I picked my first Rolex (SS Sub-C vs. SS GMT IIC), I went for the Sub because I preferred the BCL over PCL, and I assumed the GlideLock would be useful and that I would fiddle with it all the time. But no, I haven't changed the bracelet length for months now. So the lack of GlideLock shouldn't affect your decision IMHO.
Also, after getting the Sub-C, I'd start saving up for a nice pre-loved PO on rubber, and buy one from the sales corner of TRF. They are very affordable, handsome pieces. That way you'd have a classic Rolex on the amazing Oyster bracelet, and also a casual diver on rubber as well. However, if you don't want two divers in your collection, then get the SS GMT IIC and a pre-loved PO on rubber. |

To me the glid lock is a big deal and I usually adjust it daily depending on office work vs. Outside work. My wrist swells a lot between a 72 degree office and working outside in 90 degree heat. I love the easy adjustment and do look at it as at least part of the decision. |

Sub-C gets my vote. The bracelet is one if the most significant improvements for Rolex IMHO. Good luck with your choice and let us know which you end up with.

While the PO is a very nice watch (also the new chronograph coming out later this year with the Omega movement looks stellar), I still feel the GMT or Sub are better long-term watches based on having owned a Submariner for the past 10 years.
I'm on my second Sub (Ceramic) now, and I have never thought of selling it for something else. Definitely a classic watch that you won't get bored with (plus it sounds like you really want the Rolex or you probably would have posted on the Omega forum.) |

I was just at the local AD. I have been trying to decide my watch of the year. I tried on both the Sub-C as well as the GMT. The GMT fits my wrist much better an the sub. I have thrown out the subc as a choice due to how uncomfortable it feels on my wrist. Ive owned the PO big size and plan on getting another one, only the 42 in orange. If you want a very comfy case with a watch you won't get sick of, I would vote the PO or the GMT. Good luck with your choice.

When I used to wear Omega watches, I kept thinking about Rolex. When I started to wear Rolex watches, I thought of more Rolex watches. If this sounds familiar, then you know your answer. Please post pictures!

Roger said it best if you ask me. I wore a sea master for seven years and for five and a half of them I was still thinking of and shopping for a Rolex. Just got my first for fathers day and have had more of them on my wrist since then than ever before. Go figure. I alreay know which is to be my next. If the wife knew this she would kill me!!! hahahhaha

From what you've said I would get the GMT.
Omega PO is really nice as well but you might end up wishing you had went for the GMT. The Easylink is nice for quick adjustment on the bracelet.
You could always pick up a nice preowned PO down the road for a very good price. |

The Easy link on the GMTIIC works perfectly fine for me. GMTIIC gets my vote.
