Advice Please!

Yes...the one day I forget my cell phone I see the most gorgeous watch that I must have so sorry no photos...yet.

I saw an R serial Explorer II with some very nice patina on the lume markers. It looked like the previous owner took very good care of it.

The sellers is a very reputable re-seller in town who gives a 2 year warranty and 100% guarantee that all parts of the watch are genuine Rolex inside and out. He also is selling it from a store front so it's not like he's going anywhwere he has been there fro 25 years.

The price is $4300 cash. I have seen an R serial online for $3800 but it's hard to tell condition the condition of this watch is very good.

No papers or box.

What do you guys think?

On a funny side note the father who owns the store is a Rolex collector and they have to call him first because he might not want to sell it...this is why I'll never own a store I wouldn't make any money since I'm not wiling to part with any of my watches.

I'm sorry to bump this they are supposed to call me soon and I want to be sure I am not paying too much.

I did check 100 years of Rolex it says an R serial in Very Good condition should go for around 4100 -4700.

I think that price is perfectly acceptable from a retailer who will be there when you need them.

Think the piece doesn't sound too bad. Considering you have seen the watch in person from a trusted seller, I don't see a reason why not.

OK...I will be the dissenter. I think $4300 w/o provenance is high.

Thanks for the advice...I'm leaning toward buy...yes I could get this watch on line from a sellers for 3900 - 4100 but I would not get a 3 year warranty. They are trusted and I do love the watch.

I got a photo:

Looking good Michael. So when do you seal the deal?

Thanks guys...I bought it. Photos coming soon.

I was advised to take is slowly from a friend I sent him some photos he noticed some pitting on the case mostly likely from salt water.

I am going to take it to an AD and have the watchmaker take a look at the inside to make sure nothing got inside. I bought it from a reputable place they do not offer money back but I am sure if there is a serious problem with this watch (which I am not expecting) they will do the right thing. They have been in business since 1978 I don think they would have lasted so long if they were flipping junk Rolex.

I felt it was a risk worth taking since living in Hawaii it's hard to avoid salt water the watch is running perfectly so as long as the seal is good and all parts are genuine Rolex I'll be happy.

Even if I have to invest a bit more it's still a beautiful watch that sung to me...it actually did I saw it in the case and it sung.

The best day is when you buy a Rolex you had no idea you would buy when you woke up.
