I know this is a loaded question...
But, if you compare Rolex to Omega, both great timepieces, which watch sees more "shop time," due to malfunction, break-down, etc? I'm not comparing football teams, just curious.

Speaking from personal experience I have never had to send in any of my Rolex watches because of malfunction. I've had watches serviced but never has one just stopped working. A guy that works at my office has to send in his 5 year old Omega because the regulator is shot.

I have owned quite a few Rollies and not once did I have to send any of them in for service due to malfunction (Explorer, Daytona (Zenith), Subs, GMT, Milgauss).
Cannot speak about Omega as never owned one. |

My Rolex watches keep right on ticking with no problems, and some are forty years old.

As far as I know, both have excellent records for reliability. All mechanical watches must be properly maintained, and it isn't exactly cheap, but either brand is fully capable of outlasting us.

Personally experience - I wore an Omega SMP for 10 years - every day & it never missed a beat. Although my watch of choice now is my SD - I still say that for the £ or $ - Omega is a hard watch to beat !! No problems here - ever from either make

Only the manufacturers would possess the data needed to make an accurate comparison.

I've had both and both my omega seasmaster and Rolex Sub are running perfectly fine, although my Omega is slightly more accurate compared to the sub. Probably due to the Co-axil movement. But, I still wear my Sub 99% of the time.

From personal experience and what I've read on the forum I would say they see about the same shop time. But that is a pretty big guess.
