Oris Automatic Movements

Afternoon All,

Anyone know much about the accuracy and quality of the Oris Automatic movements? Been looking at the F1 Skeleton with an interesting date mechanism.

I realise Oris are a fairly low-end brand so not expecting the best reviews for their movements.

Cheers

They are some decent ETA movement inside. Mostly 7750 for the Chronograph watches. Actually they are far more enough than you need for a daily beater, although the decoration is really plain.

Actually, some of the Oris watches are powered with Selita movements, which are, basically, clones of ETA, with some minor differences.
For example, SW 200 is clone of ETA 2824-2, but it have one additional jewel, I don`t know why (maybe for decoration purpose only?).
And it`s earlier announced that from 2010 all of the movements in Oris watches will be made by Selita, because of policy of Swatch group, which Oris is not a member.
I don`t know is it true, but in practice it doesn`t mean a thing, because Selita is as good as ETA in every term, heck, they`re practically the same.

I wouldn't call them a low-end brand. I have a gmt diver with the eta 2893-2 thats just behind my sub in quality.
