Starbucks Trenta

Having my first "trenta" sized Starbucks iced coffee. I heard a few months ago that they were making this size, but it hasn't appeared until now.

Trenta is 30 in Italian, for 30 ounces. So far only for iced coffee and iced tea.

I usually have a Venti iced coffee which is actually 24 ounces, so it's only 25% (not 50%) more.

Freakonomics says it's a bargain... was the last six ounces cheaper per ounce than the first 24?

I just checked the size, despite the name, the trenta is 31oz. 7 oz more for 50 cents...

That's cheap... figure $4 for the first 24 is $.17/ounce, you get the last seven ounces for seven cents each.

Ah. OK assumed it was a frap or something, didn't read original post correctly, you did say iced coffee.

Still, the final ounces were the cheapest.

Oh certainly. I wasn't disputing, simply adding real numbers. The barista said no fraps yet. He muttered something like, "that'd be like 5 or 6 shots... "

Sounds good to me!!

Is it something you drink over an entire day?

Its a uniquely American thing.
One of the main reasons Starbucks failed in Australia.

I get a Venti Iced Coffee most every workday morning. The cup is 24 ounces, but when they fill the coffee first, it's about 16 ounces. The rest is ice. I get it around 7:30, drink from it slowly. Usually need to add more ice around 10 am, and finish it before lunch.

An average coffee mug is probably 12 ounces, so it's really not that much.

I get a Venti Red Eye every morning.
Maybe a Trenta is something I should try.

This morning I got a venti iced nonfat mocha in a Trenta cup. This allowed lots more ice (which I always feel that drink needs) . I think I will order it that way from now on. The drink lasted a lot longer than usual since the ice melted as I was drinking it.

I think it's only a cold cup size, not a hot cup.

I guess I am one of the few Americans to have never visited a Starbucks.

I don't drink coffee so I've never had a reason to go. At $3 for a cup of coffee I guess I am saving some money.

$1.45 for a tall brewed coffee at Starbucks. About $.50 less than the swill they throw you at most restaurants.

Also the flavoured, caramel frappe etc thing is an exception rather than the rule here.

I presume that you mean calories when you say energy?

A Trenta iced coffee with 2% milk is only 70 calories, with all of it coming from the milk (unless you use real sugar).

If you mean the caffeine, it has 250mg.

The iced nonfat mocha (venti) I had yesterday was 250 calories and 265mg of caffeine. More caffeine since it has something like 4 espresso shots in it.

I've been drinking trenta size passionfruit tea lemonades before the size made it to the menu. The sad part is that I'll even get a refill of it just because it's free.

Finally had a trenta iced coffee today. I drink it way too fast but the little extra helped.
