Bell & Ross Br01-

First of all, sorry about the poor pictures. Secondly, we have a old expression "Bullshit baffles brains".its true
Hopefully at the end of this post you will get my drift!
I had a look at this watch in a shop in Cardiff. I think the bloke said it was £2,800. It is a fair lump of metal, but I thought my Vixar compared quite well and a lot cheaper
The salesman gave me a booklet to read about the watch.
This is a sample of the text!
This pukemaking bullshit almost made me grab for the sick bag. The references to "living on the edge", "carrying out missions", "exclusive universe of professional users", "even bomb disposal experts" is so laughable that it would be amusing if it wasn't so pathetic.
Still if it gets punters to fork out nearly £3,000 for the privilege of believing the owner will become some kind of cross between James Bond and an SAS war hero, good luck to the them. Its something like the adds for certain unmentionable ladies products, you know the ones that make you swim, jump, and ride horses all day.

Think If I was a bomb disposal expert at work, the last thing I'd want would be a watch on my wrist, the ticking would scare me to death.
In my view it perfectly meets the expectations of men who want to wear a square beer-mat strapped to their wrist. However, I think the exclusive universe of professional tegestologists is a small one but think I could get to like the cockpit style of it.

Hype is sometimes entertaning.

And, should someone feel qualified to disarm explosive devices because he's wearing a particular brand of watch, it will eventually make for a good story on the Darwin Awards.

LOL, great post Padi!

I just think it's an ugly watch, besides all the bs associated with it!

Maybe it will protect him from the blast, you think?

I've yet to come across a B&R watch that I like, and this certainly doesn't help things. Maybe they think the watch can just ugly the bomb to the point of inoperability.

Agree James most of Bell & Ross look like Sinn watches, but with a much
higher price tag.

So, it it fair to say you don't like this watch then? But I agree, it is an awful watch. I have a couple of Bell & Ross catalogues and they all breath an air of 50’s jet age nostalgia. Lot of vintage black and white and sepia photographs of airplanes and pilots. Some of their ‘vintage’ mechanical chronographs are quite nice, all be it a tad on the expensive side.

And then they come up with this joke of a watch. A lot of cash for an ETA movement in a square lump of metal. It could have been designed by a crazy Dutchman with one big joint to many. (We call it ‘toeter’ or horn). That’s why good ol’ Rolex is always a safe, bit boring, unsurprising but high grade bet.

Take care,

Frans.
