I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a 1625 being sold by an active forum member. I was originally considering a 1601 or 1603 birth year (1969) but came across a 1625 that really caught my eye. The serial number is 2703xxx. I've linked to some pics below.

I've posted separately about the challenges of confirming whether this is indeed from 1969 due to inconsistent reference charts that have this as anything from a 1969 to 1971 watch. Unfortunately, the seller is unable to open the caseback.

The seller appears to be responsive and honest but I'm a newbie and unsure if I've asked all the right questions. Any thoughts/observations on this watch will be appreciated.

i have never seen such an old t=bird with a white gold bezel.

i own one that is from the 70s and is two tone yellow gold with a TT jubilee band. i think this is the more usual setup for this watch.

when i saw this one, i thought it was a sapphire 1990s model. even the dial; can you tell if the hands or the markers are yellow gold? this could be a hint as to what this piece originally looked like.

I don't know anything about the hands other than what I can see in the pictures. Agree that most of the set ups have been TT and jubilee but I have seen a few with the white gold bezel. Not sure if the bracelet is original.

Anyone else?

It is all white gold and stainless steel, that was the reason I bought it in the first place! Its so much more unusual-

Although they have Jubilee bracelets, the last one is clearly not the right one for the watch. I like the look of the oyster bracelet, the strap is the correct age for the watch, as to whether it was supplied with the watch, who knows?

its a very handsome watch and the dial seems to match. ask him if he thinks its original, or maybe has been remodeled over the years. 1625s tend to get only moderate dollars on ebay. you see 1601/1603s in the 1000-1500 range and maybe another 30 percent premium for a 1625. i would rather stick to a classic TT 1625 with an old stretched jubilee... you will be confident that its correct. harry

Afraid I can't be of much help as far as giving information on this particular watch, but that is one great looking piece!

That's a great 1625. The SS/WG models are getting hard to find and actually could be sourced with an oyster bracelet. The TuTones are definitely more common. I thought about making an offer to DeiselDragon on this watch a while back , but have a newborn so decided against it...

go check out the price of a new t-bird or comparable datejust at your rolex dealer. i think vintage is cooler, and always holds its value. plus it only costs roughly 35% of the price of a new one. H

White gold is definitely more scarce and desirable when it comes to Thunderbirds.
