Yet Another Newbie
Hi out there.
I should have joined this forum ages ago, but.... I currently have about 10 Rolex watches, primarily from the 1960's and 1970's except for a 16610LV (2009) and a President Oysterquartz (1986). Total watch collection is probably 250+, with a heavy concentration on electromechanical watches - I have an excellent Hamilton Electric collection, and (I expect) one of the best collections of Wittnauer Electro-Chrons in the world. My favourites are the understated, "plain jane" black and silver dial manual wind watches from the 1950's - 1980's (the wild Hamilton Electric asymmetrical watches serve as my "extrovert" pieces). Hope I can learn a lot and contribute where I can. |

Well here's what's on my desk and on my wrist today. First a group shot. Yes, I will win NO PRIZES for the quality of my photographs.
[IMG][/IMG] Here are close ups of the watches. First the 15505 and a '70's Omega Seamaster with "lazy" day shutter: [IMG][/IMG] Now the other two: a 1005 from Circa 1969 (can anyone tell me absolutely whether this watch should have had a fluted bezel?), and an early electric watch - a Buren from the early 1960's with a Landeron 4750 movement - love those lightning bolt dial markers! [IMG][/IMG] Finally, this is what is on my wrist TODAY. It's a homage to my dad, who is 82 years old today, and his father (whose watch this was). Regretfully, my grandfather died before I was born, but I have his watch - it keeps time like a trooper - about 10 seconds per day, which, in my opinion, is certainly "good vintage time". [IMG][/IMG] A final newbie question: I read the FAQ's about photos. These photos are around 140kb. Is that too large a file? Sorry if I have stuck a toe out. |
