I have two in my inventory right now, a Z and a M, and today I was bored and was checking them out; it has been a while since I sat down and really examined these beauties since owning and flipping one a year ago. This is really a watch I would like to own for myself permanently soon. The weight is perfect, the size is perfect, everything about it is just so perfect. It just has that slight heft compared to the 16610 Sub, and it's just so so so perfect. Sorry for the rant!

Could not agree more, I love the weight of the SD, perfection is the right word IMHO

It was also my first Rolex back in 2001 and I have owned a few since, my latest a NIB M I just grabbed will not leave me

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.. I still remember not too long ago, ppl were complaining that the SD is too thick and too heavy.. I too love my SD (but mine is on steroid aka the DSSD

) ..

The 16600 is my favorite Rolex of all that I've owned.

The 16600 is like looking down on a 14060M with the benefit of a date, SEL bracelet and a beefy profile with the best darn bezel surround I've ever seen. It is a work of art. I got over the modern, blingy ceramic on the Sub-C quickly and quite honestly prefer the look of the anodized classic. The SD has a fat font like vintage Rolex. The case is classic and looks amazing.

I also don't miss that GINORMOUS clasp from the Sub-C. While there is a lot to like about the glide lock adjustability, I get what I need from the classic clasp. I wish I could move one more link away from the 6:00 side, but I've grown accustomed to the fit.

Overall, the 16600 is simply a classic, understated Rolex dive watch.

I've always considered the SD to be THE Rolex dial watch.

After 9 years, my sd finally gave out on me. $635 later, it returned from service last week, and it looks like it came brand new out of the store yesterday! Definitely money well spent, especially on a classic watch like this one. I'm hoping I'm good for another 9 years!

Unfortunately I'm kicking myself for not taking before pics. It was in good shape for a 9 year old watch. I'd take after pics, but my camera is at the office and I won't be back for a few days. Just look at some pics of a new one, and that's pretty much mine :-) :-) :-)

It was tough spending so much on the service, but after I got it back it seemed like very little considering how amazing it looked!

The SD's definitely my favorite watch. I've had 2 M's but was lucky to find the last batch in the production - a bnib V serial! This is definitely a keeper!
