Which Sub should I buy?
I've always wanted to collect all the Rolex SS Sports models, and I want to buy a Sub and a GMT before the next price increase occurs. I thought I was going to buy the new Sub-C, but I am not too sure now after reading the thread that compares the 116610 & 16610. I think the old sub case does look better, but I don't dislike the new sub either. However, I would get the old LV if I end up buying a 16610. Gotta love the maxi dial, and the green bezel represents my college(Nike U) very well, . But I will likely use a black bezel insert on it most of time. I've also tried on the new sub many times, and the size & weight did not bother me. Probably because I am used to wear a much bigger Panerai.
Why I chose to get the new ceramic GMT? Really liked the coke before, but the new 116710LN just looks so much better, IMO. Besides, my EX II already has a red GMT hand, so a watch with a green GMT hand would be nice. Anyway, I am going to grab these two watches before they become too expensive for me to buy, and I was wondering if you could help me to choose how I should buy them. Current Rolex 114270 16570 (Black) 16622 116520 (White) 116400 (White) Deepsea just doesn't look right on my wrist, but might buy an older sea-dweller on day Option 1 Used 16610LV ($6k +$300 for a black bezel insert?) New 116710LN (10% off) Total $13,410 Option 2 New 116610LN (15% off, maybe) New 116710LN (15% off) Total $13,515 Option 3 Buy both watches used and save a little more? Total should be slightly under $13g |

Based on the two options above, I'd go with option 1 - best of both worlds (ie aluminium and ceramic bezel variants)
Good luck with your decision and would love to see your current line up |

I like option 1. The ceramic sub and ceramic gmt are too similar for me.

Of your 3 options I like #1 best; as I too feel that the black ceramic sub and the black ceramic GMT would be too similar for me.
But if there was a 4th option that included a new 116610LV and a new 116710LN (with the same discounts as noted in your option #2), then that would be my personal choice.

Only a small difference in relative cost of those options.
So buy what YOU like. I'd go new on both.

I'd go with Option 2...... Who knows what your buying when it's used. That's always freaked me out.

Hmm, 50% #1 and 50% #2 at this point. I would agree that both ceramic models are very similar.

I'll go off the reservation and not pick an option...
How about this? Instead of getting out an excel sheet and look at % off of retail and comparisons to what you have, why not buy one or both of the watches if you think you will get pleasure out of wearing one or both? I have to say I am not getting your approach, but to each his own. I hope whichever watch / watches you buy give you immense pleasure! |

I would choose option 2, but buy used. Better value for your money.
