New Rolex 16610 Submariner.

Hello,

After exercising and showering this morning I went to put on my 16610 Sub.

To my surprise it had stopped. However, I wore it yesterday afternoon. The time it showed when stopped or when the power ran out was 11 pm on the 27th of August. It had only been off my wrist for 7-8 hours....

What gives?

Thanks in advance.

It may not have been at full power reserve... I have read on here that even if you wear the watch all day every day it may not be enough to keep it fully wound at the 48 hour reserve... Some recommend giving it a full manual wind once a week to keep it closer...

Mightn't have been fully wound.

Is it working now?

How long did you wear it for prior to this morning? You might have to give it a wind of about 40 turns and give it a second shot!

-That would make more sense. I take it off every night and wear it most days. I give her a full (40) wind about once a week.

How of ten do you fully (40) wind your sub?

Is it working now?
Sure is. I gave it a full 40 wind just to make sure, I'll leave it be for a day or so to see how the reserve lasts

-Noted, I usually only wear it in the daytime and take it off before I sleep, shower and exercise.

-Just did and it works now, but not sure how long the reserve will last.

-Does the reserve always stay at 40 hours through the lifetime of the watch or will it downgrade like that of a laptop??

Thanks for all the feedback! I appreciate it!

If you give it 40 winds and it doesn't last approximately 48 hours give or take, then something is probably wrong and it will require a service.

X2... I wind my '66 5513 when it stops 40-45 times, and it runs for aprox. 2 days

I would do a power reserve check... Wind the watch completely (40-50) full turns of the crown, set the time to a reliable source (time.gov) and lay it down. Notate the time you did this and then again the time it stops... Should be 40+ hours and if not as mentioned, there is an issue. I personally would do this for peace of mind

hindsight, I probably should have titled the thread "Submariner Winding Issue; need a tissue."

Why not wear it when you excercise and shower - problem fixed.
