First, welcome to TRF!!

Now to your watch...
A Rolex (or any mechanical watch), is not designed to run by simply shaking it!!!

It needs to be manually wound to produce tension on the mainspring. By shaking this watch while there is no tension on the spring, you could possibly damage the watch!

Unscrew the crown, wind the crown clockwise a full 40 turns. This will fully wind the watch, and if left untouched on a table, should allow it to run for very near 48 hours.
By wearing the watch, your kinetic movement will help keep the wind up and depending how active and how long you wear the watch, the watch will continue to run.
Give it a try, and let us know how it goes!

However, if this is not the issue, most jewelers provide a warranty with the watches they sell.

Welcome to TRF and good luck with your watch

Same happened to my XX when I got it fresh out of service. Something was messed up, wasn't told what exactly, and back to service it went. This time FOC, of course.
IMO, you need to bring it back to the seller and ask them to fix it under warranty or refund your money.

Test. Why is it that a simple post needs "approval" by a mod?!?

Edit: Well, with an earlier one it said so. Plus the post isn't appearing either. Hm...

You cannot damage a Rolex watch or any other automatic watch by shaking it it is designed to be shaken to wind it. The Seiko auto has no manual winding and only shaking it will wind up the mainspring. So don't worry you didn't hurt anything if after manually winding it it still has problems then hopefully you have some kind of warranty if not send it down I'll take care of it. Thanx Rikki

This happened to me the first time I bought a used 14060. I got the bug last year and bought the first, cheapest thing I could find. Come to find out that the rotor than spins around had broken. I was offered a free repair and service but I opted to return it because it was an impulse purchase of something that I really didn't "desire".
