Today I joined the "1675 club"

What a nice day to finally get my first Rolex. I've been looking for a while and been following this forum for quite some time. Searching for the one to keep and it wasnīt easy to pick the right one. I spend 7 hours in my car since it was cheaper than flying and Iīm so pleased with the result. Iīm still a newbie to Rolex since this is my first, but I would really like to hear if this looks nice or Iīm just a blind newbie. I know that the bezel is only 16-18 years old since it was changed (and unfortunately he didnīt have the old one anymore). But the rest looks sweet with patina and feels like it belongs to my wrist :)

Itīs a serial number 22xxxxx and I think itīs from anno 1967.
The former owner took it to Rolex AD service every 5 years so I plan to continue that.

Looking so much forward to climb through the clouds the day after tomorrow and let this beautiful watch go to the enviroment it was build to be.

The picture is just taken with my iphone, so I hope to add some better ones later.

A few questions:

Should I be winding it every morning (those 30-40 times) or not?

How should I keep it clean?

Is it correct that itīs a 1967?

Hope you all had a sweet day, because I will remember this day for sure.

Thank you for any input,
/Baudie

Nice looking watch for sure, but I'm disappointed that the matte dial and original hands have been replaced. If you're happy with that is all that matters! Congrats!

VERY VERY nice watch!

when you bring it into service point out that when the minute hand it at the top, the hour hand is not centered properly on top of an hour. in the pic, the minute hand is at 2 past, while the hour hand is lost somewhere between 5 and 6. i had the exact same problem whwn i bought my first gmt. i miss that watch.

Congrats

As long as the watch does not stop no winding is needed. However it generally it is good to give it 40 turns once a week to top off the power reserve as most people do not generate enough activity during the week. Topping of the power reserve keep the watch running at its optimum performance ability.

Keep the watch clean with warm water and mild hand soap as recomended by Rolex. Do as needed. I generally do this about once a week. This also helps to prevent premature bracelet wear and tear.

Congrats!

As other have pointed out some parts were replaced.

Have you verified the serial number yourself? Maybe take it to a watchmaker to give you the reference numbers.

Bigger problems than a service dial and hands IMHO...

1675 was never available with that style of Dial (gloss with white gold surrounds) current RSC dials are luminova, matte dials.

The 16750 was, But, the serial is wrong for that reference

I would verify the serial and Reference# if I were you. If it really is a 2 million serial take some better pics head on and in between the lugs make sure we can make out the engraving and post them here.

Good Luck

baudie, i dont know if you understood what whiskey guy wrote... when you remove the bracelet at both ends of the watch, it reveals the serial number and model number. i think it would be a very good move for you to have a watchmaker remove the band and snap some shots of the serial numebr and model number. you should do htis for insurance purposes anyway. any watchmaker that does insurance valuations could snap these photos. harry

As whiskyguy pointed out, it is a 16750 not a 1675 (looking at the hands stack). On the 1675 the 1st hand from the bottom is the GMT hand, whereas, on your watch it is the hour hand. This indicates that it's a 16750 and not a 1675. From the look of the dial, it is from 83-85. Unless it's a fat lady.

Great observation. I always forget to look at the hands.

Does it look like the tritium is missing inside the hour markers to you?

Whiskyguy, you are right, it looks like the tritium came off on some of the hour markers. I hope Baudie didn't pay to much... Hands are not aligned properly either.

Welcome onboard baudie, hope you knew about the issues the guys above mentioned and made an informed purchase of your first vintage.
At the end of the day all that matters is that you are happy with your purchase, enjoy it!

Congrats on the watch

I do think whiskeyguy is spot on though, he does have a valid point.

Thank you all for all the input. I will have the bracelet removed and check the numbers and get back with them when possible (atlest the first 3-4 numbers of serial). About your concerns about price ect. then I made a very nice deal on it. I bought it to use it everyday and I guess the first owner didnīt take care of it. I knew some of it was changed in the 1980-90īs and thats fine with me. I had a Rolex AD check if it was real, because it looked a bit too new for me, and he confirmed it was real and that he had serviced it every 5 years for the second owner. I donīt know how to remove the bracelet and will make some watchmaker check it and take some photos.

I understand you concerns and appreciate your input. This is my first Rolex and I enjoy it very much and it deserve to be on a wrist and not in a drawer. Even though it was rebuild sometime as long as it's Rolex parts which is in it. So I think Iīm still in the 1675-club until I have it checked :) It still looks amazing and itīs the cheapest sports Rolex Iīve seen for sale. It's so much better than my Zenith Elite I sold, so Iīm very happy and glad to get your knowledge in here so I can find out what happend to this, my first Rolex. Iīm in process of getting the name of the first owner so I can ask when and why it is like that.

Thanks again and I will get back with more information.

/Baudie

Hand stack is definitely not 1675. My guess is it looks like a 16750 and there's probably an "R" in front of the 22XXXX making it a 1987 (and not a 1967) watch.

Still a beautiful piece Baudi, enjoy it.

Let us know what you find out.

First update... The knowledge here is correct and it's a 16750. Serial number is 823XXXX.
The watchmaker didn't know much of Rolex of this age (I didn't go to a Rolex AD but just the local watchmaker). But he mentioned that the metal at the ends wasn't as solid as he thought it would be, so I have to go to another Rolex AD one of the following days to be sure of it is a real Rolex. The first Rolex AD (which is far from where I live) said it was real, but I want to be 100%.

I guess it's much better for me that this is a 16750 and not some half rebuild thing. I still think it's a sweet and beautiful watch and this will always be my first Rolex (hopefully it's a genuine one).

Thank you all for the information :)

Thanks for the update Baudie. 823xxxx serial would mean its a 1983-84 so correct for a 16750. That certainly points in the right direction of it being genuine.

These models still used the hollow end links so "the metal at the ends" not being solid is normal. Is there a number stamped on the last link of the bracelet and on the end links? Correct bracelet is 78360 and 580 end links.

By the way, the 16750 is a transitional model only made for a few years so it is more rare than the 1675!

Just thought you should know.

Hi Baudie, a first Rolex is indeed a special moment. I remember the first time a vintage Rolex dial sang to me, unforgettable.

Enjoy your watch and welcome to TRF

Its a great place to chill and if you stick around, you'll probably be buying another pretty soon!

The bracelet has the numbers 93150 next to the watch and number 78790A on the lock. Seems like it's replaced then. Maybe it will fit my future anno 1972 rolex 1680 red when I have the cash some years from now :)
