Good morning all:

Well I had to try a new SubC for myself. I have always owned GMT IIs (1671x) and Subs (1661x). When you get to be an old fart like me, experience is the only way to learn, so grabbed a new SubC (116610). I have become very close with my GMTC (116710) in the last month or so. I have fell in love with the AR Cyclops and the Easy Link, not so much love for the PCLs. I like the way they look, but a look from a passer by can put swirls on them. Anyway, not trying to write a book here, got a new SubC yesterday. I sized it to my 7.5" wrist by taking 2 links out. My initial impression is that I like the brushed look and the watch felt a little more solid than the GMTC. And yes I can read the date well, but I am still trying to become familiar with the Glide Lock feature. The clasp is HUGE, BTW. So we will see which one of the two hits the TRF for sale section in a few weeks.

Great dimensional comparison! I love my Sub-C. I wouldn't go back to any other Sub (or Rolex sports model for that matter). It is that good!

for me I have the GMTc and love it, the only improvement for me would be the glidelock instead of the easylink .....

A full day of wearing the SubC and got 4 compliments. It is somewhat weird that the 2 watches wear so differently, yet are the same size. Still not a fan of glide lock. Also, has anyone wore there SubC with a wetsuit? Doesn't seem to expand as much as a SD or Sub 16610. Thx all: Mike

Congratulations Mike I've had mine almost three weeks and love it. The length of the Glidelock doesn't bother me either.

Can you put the Easylink of the Sub bracelet if that's more comfortable for you

IMHO the glide lock is the best improvement over the old Subs. You can easily adjust differences in wrist size at hot or cold conditions. The old bracelet and clasp always has been either too tight or too lose for me.

And....the inner parts of the new clasp are so nicely polished and rounded, it really is the most comfortable Rolex I ever wore.

As an old fart too I thought I should respond. I am new to Rolex though I have many watches including Lange, IWC, JLC, Panerai and Omega. I always wanted a sub but never liked the bracelet. Well I walked into my favorite dealer and said I wanted a watch for my 60th birthday. He showed me the sub c and I loved it. Have worn it for three weeks and have come to like the glide lock clasp as well. The secret for comfort for me was getting the clasp centered on my wrist, mine is about the same size as yours, but I ended up removing three links and keeping the glide lock clasp nearly opened (I rarely dive any more). I like the easy adjustability and often open it up one notch in the afternoon as my wrist expands, it is so easy to do.

Well this is a hard decision. The SubC lugs seem sharper to the brush of fingers along the band. Still no glory on the large glide lock clasp. Going to give a couple of weeks...

Mike, glad to see you finally gave the new ceramic styles a try! I have both th GMTC and SubC-LV and will agree with you about the glidelock clasp. I feel it is not as comfortable as the easy link clasp due to the size, but the microadjustment are awesome. Good luck in whichever you decide to keep or just keep them both! Paul

Hi Paul !!

I have switched back and forth for over a week now. My vote is for the GMT IIc. Like the 24 hours feature since I travel a lot, clasp is better for me. I actually feel that the SubC looks a little nicer, but I don't dive anymore. Hope there is a market for a 3 week old SubC. I still looking for a platty DD so I won't be keeping both SS sport watches.

There is something about more detail (more #s) on the GMT ceramic bezel which makes it look better than the Sub-C bezel to me.

Very interesting view. Think I will stick with my GMT, and if I want to try the sub will go Hulk so that they are not so similar
