Scam Alert: Hijacked ID and Password - Robrobin

TRF members please be advised about this current fraud. My ID, robrobin, was hijacked over the last 24 hours on Watchnet, Timezone and WUS. I've been contacted by over 51 individuals about this. Through PM's and emails he has asked potential buyers to send Western Union Money orders to Nena Pinag, Pasig City in the Philippines. The email address is [email protected]. The watch was a Planet Ocean and his price was $1100.

My ID has been reset and the post removed from all sites but I want to make sure there are no other forum members that are thinking of sending this seller any money.

Thanks TZ, WN and WUS moderators.

How did your accounts get hijacked?

So no one else gets scammed.

I believe it was through a spoof or fake PM (private message). They copied the look of a PM and sent it to my email. When I clicked on it to bring me to the site it asked me to log in. It seemed a little funny to have to log in, since I was already logged on to TZ but I did. The scammer captured my ID and password. He then proceeded to change my password and email address. From that point he started to post watches under my ID. I had to have my account suspended on TZ to curtail the scammers activity. Hopefully no one sent him any money.

This has been happening a lot in the past month. Here's a thread about it, and in post #1 it's explained.

Maybe this should be a sticky on the Sale/Watch Out threads.

Definitely is a good thing to double check every time you need to login at any place.

I usually (if automatically logged out) return to the front page of a site, to make sure I'm at the right place. Never click email links.

I just changed my TRF password to a ridiculously complex one. Maybe that'll help. I don't click on links either.

Sorry this is happening to us.

So have I Chris, and because of recent events here, I have tried and removed all indicators of who I am and where am.

Once cannot be too careful these days.......
