Yellow Gold or White gold Day Date

What is your choice with the Day Date President, Yellow Gold which is classic or White Gold which is more current. SS watches seem to be more the trend for men thus white gold. However when you purchase a Day Date should you go classic. I know, I should just buy both. Well maybe.

welcome to the forum RAD
i would pick white gold over the yellow one. i love the discreet factor of white gold.
however that is just my opinion....i am sure there are a few members here would choose yellow instead

Yellow Gold is classic and has been for centuries, which is why I believe rolex & Yellow gold go hand in hand. Read this excerpt

Gold has been known and highly valued since prehistoric times. It may have been the first metal used by humans and was valued for ornamentation and rituals. Egyptian hieroglyphs from as early as 2600 BC describe gold, which king Tushratta of the Mitanni claimed was "more plentiful than dirt" in Egypt.[4] Egypt and Nubia had the resources to make them major gold-producing areas for much of history. Gold is also mentioned several times in the Old Testament, and is included with the gifts of the magi in the first chapters of Matthew New Testament The south-east corner of the Black Sea was famed for its gold. Exploitation is said to date from the time of Midas, and this gold was important in the establishment of what is probably the world's earliest coinage in Lydia between 643 and 630 BC.

The Mali Empire in Africa was famed throughout the old world for its large amounts of gold. Mansa Musa, ruler of the empire (1312 - 1337) became famous throughout the old world for his great hajj to Mecca in 1324. On the way to Mecca, when he passed through Cairo in July of 1324, he was reportedly accompanied by a caravan that included thousands of people and nearly a hundred camels, giving away so much gold that it took over a decade for the economy across North Africa to recover, due to the rapid inflation that it initiated.

The European exploration of the Americas was fueled in no small part by reports of the gold ornaments displayed in great profusion by Native American peoples, especially in Central America, Peru, and Colombia.

Although the price of some platinum group metals can be much higher, gold has long been considered the most desirable of precious metals, and its value has been used as the standard for many currencies (known as the gold standard) in history. Gold has been used as a symbol for purity, value, royalty, and particularly roles that combine these properties -

Imho stay classic and you can't go wrong

A classic President deserves yellow gold.

Most people just glancing at white gold will think it's S.S. so you may as well save the $$ until you can buy both.

Enjoy either way you go.

with so many options available for metals, bezels, bracelets and dials, the choice is certainly not straightforward...

i do have a favourite for each of the metals though.......

for everose gold, i like the black arabic dial with a dome bezel and oyster bracelet.....it's one of the more contemporary daydate designs.....while for platinum, the obvious choice is the ice blue dial with baton markers....

white gold daydate looks especially good with MOP dials......

Day Date in Platinum. Isn't that the one Bill Murray was wearing in LOST IN TRANSLATION? Man that was an awesome watch.

If we are talking GOLD, then it's just gotta be YELLOW.

WHITE gold looks like STEEL....so I'm damned if I'm gonna pay megabucks for a WG watch that LOOKS like steel.

EXACTLY, JJ!

I tried on a white gold Daytona in Berlin. As you say, I could help thinking "this is not gold". Yes, the weight was there, but it LOOKED like steel.

So yellow gold for me, too!

I went threw this when buying my yg dd. The wg is awsome, but as said before, looks like steel.
No picture does yg justice. Put one on your wrist in a well lit room or in the sunlight. One look and your mind will be made up.

WG if you're young, if you're the more typical DD owner go for the YG.

Some advice from a guy you just bought his first DD YG. I had my heart set on the white gold DD, I loved it. But the week before I bought it, I was in the jewelry store looking at it, and while I was trying it on, a man and his girlfriend walked buy me and said “Look honey, it now comes in sliver” I took it off at that instant. The following week I bought the yellow gold. If you want the watch without the attention, the WG is the way to go, don’t get me wrong, when I see somebody wearing a white gold one, I give them props. Because not only did they buy the watch, but it was bought truly for themselves. I bought mine because I love it, plus it’s a great show off piece.

Well I'm one of those who thinks you can't really go wrong with ANY Day Date

It's a personal choice - what looks best to your eye.

Personally I'll (notice my use of future tense here as I'm a dreamer!) one day go the WG or Plat route as I think it goes better with my skin tone and other jewelry which is mostly WG/Plat.

So many choices! I will say that I think Mort's and Gerardo's YG DD w/romans are simply gorgeous pieces

They're really ALL amazing in my opinion. Lucky position to be in to get to 'decide'

The DD is the only watch I could imagine rocking in solid gold, with either a white or gold dial. My personal favorite is gold all the way around, with stick indices. It's such a personal choice, though. Both look great!

I agree any color Gold or platinum on a DD. They are such beautiful watches. As rubin above says, "It's such a personal choice." We went with White Gold. The hardest decision is the Face as they have so many different ones to choose from.
