Gentlemen, firstly let me thank you in advance for any and all responses to my post.

I am looking at purchasing a DATEJUSTII. This is my first move into this market; currently I have an average run of the mill $200 watch that suits me fine for everyday use. I am researching Rolex watches and the DJII Steel and Yellow Gold, Slate Dial 116333, appeals to my taste and style.

Now that I have matured in my life and career I am seeking a watch that I can add to my attire while attending events but more importantly I desire something like a Rolex Watch that I can hand down to my daughter, then some day, if I have a grandson, it can be handed down to him. A family keepsake.

I am 6'1" 210lbs just wondering if this 41mm DJII is too big for me and my average sized wrist. I like a fair size watch but I do not wish for a watch that is too big that it looks gaudy on my wrist and I then look like a rapper wanna be.

Suggestions/thoughts gentleman, and ladies too, are most welcome!

I personally think the DJIIs are a bit disproportionate. Rolex bumped the classic 36mm to follow fashion.

Might you consider a classic DJ or Sub / GMT?

I'd also consider the classic 36mm DJ. The new 41mm size just doesn't look right to me.

If you want to pass it to your daughter go with the classic 36 mm size then she can wear it too and then pass it on to your future grandson (or daughter). If it is too small try a 39 mm explorer or a Milgaus. Both nice watches, dressy and sporty at the same time. (bu t not two tone-they are only stainless. Btw I'm not a fan of twotone-I think they are blingy and dated, but a lot of people would disagree).

the best thing you can do is visit your AD and try few models on and you'll go from there..

Could not agree more. I personally think the size of the 41mm will be perfectly fine for you however it will really come down to what you feel looks best. I too would head to an AD and try them both on and see what you feel looks best

First off, welcome to TRF.

Personally I would go with the 41mm. I am not a fan of oversized watches, however Rolex is by no means considered oversize. There are many other high end watches around 42mm, and some much larger. Most of the Rolex sports models are 40mm, and they just released the Explorer II at 42mm. A couple of other Rolex models are 43-44mm.

The only way to really know is to try it on and check it out. If your concerned enough as to how it will fit on your daughter have her check it out as well.

Go down to your neaarest AD and try some watches on.

I suggest a preowned 116400 milgauss white or black dial while they are still relatively cheap.

I think that the DJII could work for you but agree that if you are considering your daughter wearing it, you might want to consider the 36mm size. I personally think the larger sizes work much better in the sport watches (SubC, GMT, etc..) than in the dressier DJ lineup.

The best thing I could tell you is buy what YOU like without concern for your daughter's taste. Most likely in 20-30 years styles will have changed and she may not even want to wear it. I cannot tell you how many people I know have their parents or grandparents old watches sitting in a drawer. AAARRGGGHHH.

Welcome. A couple of months ago I was in the exact situation as you! I really wanted to add another TT Rolex to my collection (I already have a 16713) and the DJII was the only one that was really stuck in my head.... I finally walked away with a TT SUB-c, 116613!

Well if your living in Nfld I know that you may not be close to any Rolex AD so if geography is an issue then I'd suggest the classic DJ. It's a nice size for your wrist and when it's time for your daughter and/or future grand child to wear it they won't have any size issue either.

I love my TTDJII, pictures don't do this watch justice, it wears really good and it just the right size IMO, 36mm is sooo 1900's
