Restored faith in Michael Young....

Hi Guys

I know that Micheal Young has had some bad press lately regarding a band that was lost and replaced with another TRF member....

To be fair - all I can do is tell and show you my recent dealing with him and them leave it to you guys to make your judgements....

I sent Micheal my 93150 Submariner bracelet back in July - to see what he could do with it. Here are this pics showing the before:





You can clearly see the large amount of stretch in the band - In fact... I'd almost classed this band as 'BIN FODDER!'

This morning I received my band back from Michael in about 8 weeks or so - so within the usual 10 weeks quoted time - and this is the result:





As you can see - the band is now tight and what was, once a useless band can now be used again... I'm totally amazed at what he's done!! I had written that particular band off and was looking to source another!!

As it happens - I've now got used to - and quite enjoy wearing my sub on a Nato - so this band will go back in its box... but..

All I can say - is Micheal Young was highly recommended to me, he's worked magic on this band and I'm very pleased with the results.. and 'based on my own dealings' I would certainly recommend him again!!

He will only have redeemed himself when he takes care of the problem of the lost bracelet and junk he replaced it with. That is redemption. One screwing is all it takes to ruin a greater ration...just because you are happy doesn't mean he righted the wrong.

No, that bracelet was rebuilt. Much cheaper than buying a new one.

As already posted - the band has been re-built. If you look at the before pictures and look at the gaps between the links - you will see space which is stretch...

On the after pictures - all the links are now tight, just like it left the factory...

Oh I didn't know it was rebuilt. Yes, I am sure that takes a lot of work. Plus, he has other customers too and is running a small shop, so he must get quite busy.

The OP posted this because a fellow member was burned by Michael young. I did a search on his name and there is a thread here where a TRF member is going through a bad experience with Michael Young.

Personally, i will not send him any work after what I read. Plus, he is not in the US; he is out of Hong Kong.

Barry - your absolutely correct and this is why I started the thread as I did.
It's easy to judge based of what someone else posts - to be fair... All anyone can do is report on their own personal dealings and then leave it to others to make their own judgements.
With respect - I did not post this to fuel a debate - it's just to report my own dealings - especially as other members were keen to know what my outcome would be...

The cost to me was about £140.00 Including the delivery both ways...

So a fraction of what a new band would cost (£700-£900)

This is such a small community and one small word can make it or ruin it for a small buisness. So If someone is out there to rip someone off, then they won't last long.

To eliminate broken expectations, a customer should always put things down in writing so both parties are clear on what needs to be done -- kind of like a statement of work.

I would be willing to send him a band even after the "bashing" thread. If you really research him you will find he does great work and 99% of his customers are more than satisfied. I don't care what business you are in but you can't make everyone happy. I'm not saying I agree with what took place on the other thread but keep in mind there are always 2 sides to every story and the truth is usually stretched on both sides. Bottom line is you usually only hear the bad and 9/10 times good work goes unnoticed by most.

I just flipped over to read the other thread. Horrible story, no excuse would explain why but reading the last page just now it appears that someone noticed the OP has actually used the horrible replacement bracelet as part of a Thunderbird he just sold

I'm sorry, but I can not see much stretch in the before-pictures. I can see that it has been used though. But, it seems that you are happy, so I congratulate you!

I recieved my band back a few weeks ago after a slightly longer wait than forecast (but only a couple of weeks), I had reservations about sending it but only due to the postal service rather than anything else (as all reports up until then I had heard were outstanding for MY). My faith was rewarded on receipt as I am stunned by the result Michael has achieved, the bracelet is now just perfect for a 34 year old watch.....

And yes I have read the "other" thread and was suprised by the story so far, although I was quite disturbed to see that although the band was considered a complete POS it was good enough to sell, and looked good in the sales post too!

Anyhoo, before and after piccies, a difference of 15mm.....now I need some spare links
