If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
All,
This has been a bad week. A man I greatly admired died, Steve Jobs. I had to sell my GMT-II so I can pay the bills (sold for almost double what I paid for it, at least). Had to pay $400.00 to get rid of squirrels in my attic, and STILL have not found work. And the icing on the cake you may ask???? UPS delivered my greatly anticipated Audyssey Lower East Side Computer speakers, and both the outer cardboard shipping box, and inner box with the speakers is totally waterlogged, like UPS threw my shipment in a pool for a while. And it has not rained in Atlanta since Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, all sunny. I am so pissed. My last purchase was a very nice TEAC CD player that the UPS driver threw on the ground, not dropped, threw it. That was last April. And the local Manager has the gall to be surprised my package is waterlogged, since it, as I said, has not rained since Tuesday. But thankfully, my roommate is a witness that the box, and speakers are ruined. I asked for the Manager to call me, and was told he would twice, both within an hours time, but no call. Nothing. But I need work, this job search since being laid off has been painful. I am NOT used to not working. I have a college degree in business admin., and great references, but the phone is not ringing. Very depressing. Sorry for being a downer, I feel like a sail boat without it's sails in a gail. Just being battered about. I really don't know what to do. Thank God I found a buyer for my Rolex. Thank God I HAD a Rolex to sell! I bought it in 2004 for $2300.00, and sold it today for $4100.00. The Audyssey speakers were a gift, I do not have money to spare to buy computer speakers, and now I have to fight UPS to make things right, and they seem to not care at all. Sorry, I just had to vent, David in Atlanta |

Sorry about your run of luck.
I'm sure things will begin to look up soon with your credentials.

Try not to get discouraged. Your full time job right now is getting another job.
Be sure to update the thread once that happens!

That's the truth! And I am trying very hard to secure a new job, but this economy is the worst I have seen in my 40 years on this earth. I have NEVER been laid off, or without work. This is new and scary.

David - my TRF friend,
Man..sometimes you need to sit back when things seem so bad, unfair and hopeless and open a beer and a have a good laugh. Maybe you're getting all of life's little $h!+ out of the way right now rather than later. Keep your spirits up, ok? And if it makes you feel better, vent here anytime. I have a feeling there are a lot of folks pulling for you here on TRF. |

I've been where you are mate & I feel your pain I honestly do.....
but trust me things WILL get better. As one of the forum members signature lines says "It'll all be ok in the end..... If it ain't ok, it ain't the end".

Some of the greatest disappointments and tragedies have opened doors to opportunities that either I thought were lost or I had never even dreamed of.
This is not some tired cliche. It is the story of my life condensed into a single sentence. The key is to never give up and to keep your head on a swivel, as it were.

Life is a myriad of twists and turns and, usually, the more twists....the more interesting life becomes !!!
Change brings opportunity and with opportunity there is always the prospect of potential rewards and enjoyment. I know I am not in your position but I can only urge you to keep positive, keep looking and keep believing things will improve. Usually they do with the right endeavour and persistence Look at it the other way.....You could be in a dead end job that is not fulfilling anything other than providing a subsistence. You are at a crossroads with the opportunity of an open road ahead which only you can navigate. Best of luck and our thoughts are with you |

Again, thank you all! And if any of you live in the South (Ga., S.C., N.C, Tenn, North Fla.), and know of a sales or office Management position, please let me know. God bless!
