14060 or 14060m?
Hello all. Well my dream of owning a Submariner is off and running now. Once I sell my two other watches, I should hve more than enough for a 14060, one of my grails. Now the question is, which model 14060? I like the look of the two line version but several have eluded to the good upgrades with the new movement, but of course that changes it to a four line sub. If it is truly better, I could learn to like the four line version of this watch, but need to know more about it. If anyone could help me out on the differences between the two, I will thank you in advnce.

The only difference I know is the look of the dial but I much prefer the 4 line COSC dial.
Just my $.02

I agree the 4 line no date sub looks better that the 2 line IMO.

I think you are confused. The only difference between a recent two liner and the four liner is the two extra lines of text on the dial and the engraved rehault, both model 14060M. I think you have to go back to pre ~2000 or prior (someone will clarify this) to get a 14060, which from what I understand still basically the exact same movement as the 14060M. I believe the M significes a slight modification to the movement. If you like the two liner as many do buy something from the mid 2000s to 2007.

I've had both, two liner for me.I found the four liner and engraved rehaut a bit busy. One thing seldom mentioned is there is a small difference in 93150 bracelets, there are more than one style of that small link that connects the bracelet end of a 93150 to the end piece. It fits a little different, newer style a little closer to a sel feel ..

My go to is a 14060 (97) with the 3000 movement. Love it to this day, but the tritium lume is just about done.
If it's a two liner your after my only advice would be to find a pre-loved with luminova lume which I believe started with the 14060M in 1999 (3130 movement) In 2007 (?) the four line COSC and RolexRolex on the rehaut became available. Imo you can't go wrong with either the 14060 or the 14060M. The modifications include a better balance bridge, increased shock protection, and improved winding system. Good luck and congrats in advance. |

I personally like the ROLEXROLEXROLEX. However, they are the same watch. Same movement. Just buy quality for a price you can live with.

Non-COSC 14060M... It's even lighter than the COSC 14060M (mechanically identical). Why? Absence of two lines of paint!

I think maybe folks are getting mixed up. The Sub ND is .5mm smaller than the Sub Date, but the 14060 and 14060m are the same dimension.

I thought the cases were changed on intro of the 14060M - smaller and the original case size for the introduction of the cosc in 2006. |

Two liner for sure, I own one. The simpleness of this watch is its beauty...the extra two lines of text just isn't necessary. It my favorite watch of all time. Not once have I regretted not having the date. No cyclopes is clean !!!!

I think that you can also find a two liner 14060 with 3000 movement in A series as well. Enjoy in good health.

it has nothing to do with the cosc text being added to the dial. that happened during the z-serial case production. but the 14060m production dates back to around the a serial. so... 14060 = all two-line dials. 14060m = a-serial dials to z-serial dials are two lines. z-serial to present are four lines. all of these versions (cosmetic and mechanical) are great watches. though, technically speaking, the 14060m is better than the 14060 due to the changes to the movement. but all can keep excellent time. |
