I couldn't say - but judging by the build quality of my own Sub I'd say there's nothing to suggest it wouldn't work just as well in the southern hemisphere as it does up here in the north.

Security is a personal thing. If you go about flaunting your time piece you stand a risk of losing it wherever you are.

Just keep it to yourself, don't flash it around in obviously dodgy places and it'll be fine.

You mean the hands don't spin in the opposite direction like the water when you flush the turlet...?!?

I always travel with my watch of the day (Rolex, IWC or ?) and usually take a beater (Marathon) along as well....

I have never had any problems and I have been to some shady places!

I can tell you that in Cape Town I felt safe enough to wear one.

I've only been in C-Town but from hearing stories about petty crime, I'm not sure that other places like Johannesburg or Pretoria are as safe.

Good luck!

I was in Johannesburg and Cape Town a few months ago. In my opinion I would say that J-burg has the potential to be very dangerous. Cape Town, not so much, but you always need to be careful when in unfamiliar areas.
I'd say take your Sub, travel smart & carefully and enjoy yourself.
