Original songs that were made famous by other Artists.

Here’s The Left Banke original of the great Four Tops classic, penned by the guy on keyboard whom I believe was consumed with unrequited love for the bassist’s girlfriend, Renee

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uqBTzfcIk4

Apologies if this has been done before guys, but please add to thread

PS
Tried to embed for you but I couldn’t figure it out properly

I don't have the videos but if you want some songs that were made famous by other artists than the original ones you can't really pass by those:

- All Along The Watchtower, Jimi Hendrix (originally made by Bob Dylan)
- Crossroads, Cream (originally made by Robert Johnson)

House of the Rising Sun was done by many artists, most well known were the Aniimals and Frijid Pink. The author is not known. The oldest known recording dates back to the 1930's. Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Dolly Parton have also released recordings of it.

Check out the size of the lead singer's watch.

I remember the Left Banke's version, but I can't seem to recall the Four Tops version.

I'll have to look it up.

Oh, I got two more. I fought the law. Clash right? Wrong: The Crickets, from the 1950s.

For the younger audience Jolene is probably more associated with The White Stripes than Dolly.
