The long E question

Hi all , I would like to start a conversation regarding the Rolex hand lettering system and the infamous long "E" .

1. How can we be sure that every Rolex case had the short center stroke E?

2. Are there any examples of a genuine Rolex with a long center stroke E?

3. Are there fake cases with a short center stroke E?

4. Should cases with end link rub marks through the lettering obscuring the center of the E be assumed fake?

I have no dog in this fight, I am just interested in understanding this issue and hearing from all sides..
