That is a Beechcraft AT-11 bombardier and gunner trainer used during WWII at Kirtland Field.

This aircraft was delivered to what became Kirtland Field in February 1942. Jimmy Stewart flew AT-11 aircraft for bombardier and gunner trainees in 1942 and it is highly likely that he flew this aircraft at least once, as no one aircraft was assigned to any one pilot.

All logbooks are lost or are hidden away in some obscure archive, so we'll probably never know for sure.

I am a member of the Lobo Wing of the Commemorative Air Force and this plane is our current restoration project. It takes a lot of man-hours and a lot of bucks to complete such a project.

We've actually made a lot of progress since that picture was taken.

For more information go to www.lobowing.org .

I take it you recognize the 116200 on the 63600.

Interesting Grady. Did you know that Jimmie Stewart flew in a B52 bombing run over S. Vietnam, the Iron Triangle area I think it was. The flight was out of Guam. It almost crashed landed in fact. Interesting story.
