power reserve rolex milgauss ?

Hi !

I am a beginner and have a question.

it says that milgauss should have a power reserve of 48 hours.

I use my approximately 3-4 hours each day, but it stops almost always overnight. is this normal ?

do I need to use it for longer periods of time for it to remain for 48 hours?

Kind Regards
Johan

welcome to TRF.

i'd give it a full 40 turns/winds first and see if it helps.

Like Eric says, give it a wind now and again as 3-4 hours probably doesn't charge it right up. Power reserve should be 40+ hours on a Milgauss.

Easier way? Yep - where it all the time

First have you ever given your watch a full manual wind if not wind it 40 full crown turns clockwise. And if your watch was not fully wound to start with wearing only 3-4 hour a day would hardly top its power reserve. They need at least 8-10 hours wearing each day to keep power reserve topped up.On a full manual wind when watch is at peak power reserve it should run between 40 to 48 hours while off wrist.

48 hours if the power reserve is full. You might want to take a look at this thread to get a more fuller explanation:

you auto-wind the watch through motion of your arm. If you're wearing it for 4 hours of sitting at a desk and typing, it's unlikely to put enough power into the spring to keep the watch running (my Daytona just stopped on me, yesterday, while I was wearing it!). If you're out jogging for those 4 hours, with arms pumping, you'd be good to go. Give it a good wind (40 turns, clockwise as you look at the stem) and you should be fine.

If you'd like to test your power reserve, give it the same 40 turns, then let it just sit there for 2 days and see when it stops.

Many on the forum have recommended, every week or two, manually wind your watch up fully, even if you wear it regularly. You can't overwind a Rolex, so don't worry about that.

Johan,

Welcome to TRF!

3-4 hours may not be enough, depending on how active you are. As others have said: Give the watch 40 full winds. That will give the mainspring full power reserve, that should give you some 46 hours. Perhaps you need to wind it every second day if you do not use it enough - or are active enough whilst using it.

Best,

A

Hi.

Thanks so much for the hospitality and all the help.

I must also apologize for my English which is not always the best.

Can someone describe in detail how to screw it up, I'm a little worried about not doing it right.

when I have screwed it out ,shell i pull it to step one, or should I turn it out and continue to tighten without pulling it ?

Kind Regards
Johan

One step, then wind. Push back in and tighten snug. 3 to 4 hours a day will no be enough to keep your watch running.

Yes,

Wind it
Set it
Enjoy it

EDIT - Art is right. You dont wind it by moving the hour and minute hand around and around! There is a slot where you wind when you pull out the crown (knob) and its like winding a small toy car back in old days!

No. You don't wind it buy turning the hands, if I'm understanding you.

Send a PM to MonBK or one of the other folks from Sweden that are on the forum. They may be able to help you better in Swedish.
