Robb, Nice Basses caught!! And tell your brother congrads on a fine bear!
Are they not protected or at least endangered? Depends on the province you are hunting in Russia. Some areas are protected, and other areas they are over populated, thus a need for conservation through hunting. Recently though some of these areas have stopped hunting, because some corruption was involved within the Hunting Regulations. One thing we are very fortunate in North America, is having an abundance of Wildlife due to good conservation practices that inlcude hunting. But, in some developing countries, introducing Foreign Big Game Trophy Hunting can bring in much needed income for conservation and wildlife law enforcement and will actually improve the conservation of many species. This has really been evident in many areas of Africa. I would have liked to have seen the same thing happen in the National Park I was protecting in Cambodia, but unfortunately there is just way too much corruption in Cambodia and the wildlife numbers are down way too low. |

Hey, BTW, just got some good news today from my Customs Broker in Chicago. My Trophies from South Africa (Kudu and Wildebeast) are finally on thier way to my home in Indiana. Been waiting several years! Long delays due to my PH in South AFrica loosing his ranch and the Veternarian Clearance and CITES clearance papers being misplaced and having to wait to get them redone.

Chad,
My brother had to wait for about 6 months for his animals to get back from africa. Then took about 8 months to get them all mounted. I think he took 8 animals. He went to Namibia. He is also an outfitter and books trips all over the world. Let me know if you are ever interested, if you dont already use someone?

May take you up on that! Would really like to get to Namibia! Planning a desert Mountain Lion hunt in the Southwest USA right now. All pure tracking. Been reading Jim Corbett's writings about Tiger hunting in India and it is getting me pumped up! (If you have not read anything from Jim Corbett, I highly recommend!)
