iPad2 or wait for iPad3 ?

Know there are a few Apple fans on here so thought I'd ask the question !

Looking at getting an iPad to organise my work schedule, emails and general web browsing rather then juggle it all on my iPhone.

Not the most up to date with Apple but know there are rumours of an iPad3 due at some point so not sure if to buy now or hold out ?

Life is too short to wait for the next gen technology/gadget. Just get it now and enjoy, you can alway sell it later when the new one comes out and view the price as cheap rent.

I am with Patrick on this. When it comes to tablets and mobile phones I buy then sell to fund the next update. You lose a bit but enjoy technology when it is available. If you need one on the go and need to utilize it for your professional needs in order to make your life easier like myself then go for it now. It is one great piece of equipment.

i've the original so skipped the 2 as there was little there to justify the change for me, now hoping the 3 will be all the 2 should have been....but, if you cannot wait grab the 2 & re-sell later

I'd get it now. If you already had the first one then maybe wait, but otherwise you might be waiting awhile. My wife an I got the iPad 2s and love them.

If you need or want it now, get it now. You could spend the rest of your life waiting for the newer, better version of any technology product.

If you currently do NOT have a tablet now, then I'd just wait until the iPad 3 comes out. I mean, what's another few months if you've been without one for this long ? :) :)

As for me, I have no tablet, and am holding off for the iPad 3. The Retina Display alone will be a much worthy upgrade from the 2.

Get it NOW.
It's great as is... it is hard to imagine 3 could be significantly better... maybe a slightly faster processor, better camera (no one really uses the ipad camera anyway). If you always wait for the next version, you'll never get it.

I am happy with the iPad 2. I use it a lot for work and rarely need to pull out my laptop. I got the 3G on it and it was worth the extra money.

Get it the iPad 2.. Like stated before life is too short.. Plus i think its funny that people who can afford $8000 plus watches debate whether or not they want to commit to a $500 tablet.

b/c 2-3yrs later the ipad2 will be obsolete! and a watch is a mechanical timeless piece of craftsmanship! which is why it has more value when it is a vintage..... as oppose to an ipad - just my 2 cents.

Sooner or later, every piece of technology you buy will become obsolete. So why would you bother with an iPad 3 when it will eventually be replaced with the iPad4?

The iPad has been out for nearly 2 years and not even close to being obsolete.

Buy the iPad 2, use it for a few months, give it to the wife or kids and get the ipad 3 for yourself. This way you get to try them both.

iPad3 will probably support 4G, so if you want more than wifi, you might want to wait. The other big rumor is that it may come in multiple screen sizes.

Why wait? If you are waiting for the latest technology, you will be here next year wondering if you should buy an iPad 3 or wait for the iPad 4. You will be chasing your tail forever! Its a nominal cost to have the most useful intermediate device available. You can always sell it or give it to someone in your family.

At the rate ATT is rolling out 4G, you won't see it on the iPad 3 unless it will have two chips - one 3G and another 4G...Highly unlikely if you ask me.

I bought the iPad1 last year, long wait before it landed in Finland. I have not updated to iPad2, as I see no need for it.

Eagerly awaiting to see what iPad3 offers though.

I bought my wife an Ipad2 and she loves it and I get to use it occasionally as well. I really want one myself but I decided I can manage to wait for the Ipad3 and just use the old ladies when I need to. It is a great little gadget by the way.

Get the 2, I am a Mac fanboy but not of the iPad ( I have both for work). I would get the Mac book air. I hate not having flash on the iPad, that's for another topic.

I've been using an ipad 1 since the 2 came out and haven't missed a beat. I don't think the camera is good on the 2. If I buy one, I will be waiting for the 3.

ipad 1's and iphone 3gs's still bring a premium on the used market, so as others have said, don't worry about depreciation.
