Hey guys
Have owned Rolex watches for some time, but never knew this site existed (don't spend much time on the computor anyway). I have read through some of the posts and found most to be informative and some to be exacty what you would expect as any other forum out there. Lots of various opinions. I just purchased two Rolex watches off Ebay. Both are new, and were inspected by a local jeweler who is very knowledgable and is also a Rolex AD. The one thing he mentioned was that one of the watches was from overseas. I assume the serial# told him this? He said no warranty would be available through the AD's here in the US. I don't have an issue with that since I very seldom wear my high end watches. I think Rolex only covers them a couple years anyways. That was not a deal breaker for me. I guess my question is, I saved around 4K on two watches buying from a long time Ebayer with high feeback. Are watches from overseas an issue at all? Other than that, my jeweler said they were in fact brand new and I had made a good buy. One post I was reading made mention about "Gray Market" watches. I assume this one would fall into that catagory? Thanks for your feedback! |

And Divmat the Gray Watch thing is just a watch which is sold without issuing a bill n not officially imported in the country where it is sold like you purchased a watch in US but it was legally imported in UK so it would b a gray market watch for US but its equally good n completely genuine rolex as Nick said all these are manufactured by Rolex in Switzerland. So I would say a vry good move n saving $4k. Enjoy ur watches in the pink of ur health.

First of all:
Welcome to TRF! As Nick stated, the person that authenticated your Rolex knew where it came from by looking at the country code on the certificate. You can see a list of most of the country code in the FAQ section here on TRF just in top of the page with the "General Rolex Forum" As for him not willing to service it: IF your Rolex certificates are dated with a date that is less than two years old and if the certificate originally was bought from an authorized Rolex dealer, he has the OBLIGATION (if he is a Rolex Authorized Dealer ["AD"] to honour the WORLDWIDE two-year guarantee that Rolex offers!

Except, of course, in the US, where any "third party" intervention voids the original 2 year warranty. In this case, the ebay seller is the buyer before you; therefore, warranty void for you.. However, there is seldom warranty work needed in the first few years of use.... |
