AP Diver or PP Aquanaut
Hey guys, which of the 2 watches would you choose? Please note, the only actual diving would be in a 6' swimming pool

oh man...I am conflicted...brb let me mull it over
Edit: Id go with the Patek, since I see on your sig, you are thinking about a 15300 anyways. The Patek is the watch I would keep if "forced" to keep just 1 watch. It just goes with anything you throw at it.

I'm thinking with my wrist size, I'm better off with the AP... As you replied in your ROC vs 5167 post to me, the 5167 wears smaller. I do LOVE LOVE LOVE the 5167 tho...

Very valid point Heru... the problem for me is, some watches don't make it through a full rotation of the date wheel before it's sold or traded

Watching the documentary "Inside Job" (again) and noticed George Soros is wearing a Patek Philippe Aquanaut. Looks good on him
Personally, I would go for the AP.. The Aquanaut doesn't do it for me. Good luck with your next purchase, Mike! |

One thing about the Aquanaut, it is not a photogenic watch.
Its has a simple elegance that needs to be seen/ worn in real life. An acquired taste, you can say...hard to explain.

Aquanaut. The most descreet high end casual watch around. cgjane also showed in a recent thread that it goes with everything.

AP Diver for sure, way more of a sports watch!, If you were talking about the PP Nautilus, I might go for that one.

If you have the wrist to handle the size of the Diver, then it's definitely the one. However, when it comes to thin and light sports watches, I would get one in the order of RO 15300ST, Nautilus 5711, and Aquanaut 5167.

+1.
I've owned both (bought from AD, yum, fresh watches...) It all depends on what else you have an how you plan to use the watch. The PP Aquanaut has a stunning finish and it it very comfortable and light. It virtually disappears on the wrist. The lume is actually quite good and very useful. But at the end of the day, it is a watch that is neither here nor there. The design doesn't lend itself to be a dress watch (the case/bezel shape is a bit on the ugly side) especially on that tropical rubber strap. And it is way too delicate to be a true sport watch, even if it is waterproof to 120m. The AP Diver has an equally stunning finish and it one of the more minimalistic and most attractive ROO's in my book. The wrist presence is substantial, which might be both a good and bad thing, depending on who you ask. The thick case and lots of metal + the very wide rubber strap gives it a completely different vibe than the AP. As much as I liked the clean design I found it not to be very comfortable on MY wrist and the lume is totally sub-par. Both watches fall in the luxury sport watch segment, non of them are actually very useful as sport watches I think. I would hate to bang a Aquanaut or AP Diver against the concrete wall of the pool, but I don't hesitate to wear my Rolex divers in those situations. My PP AD told me that I shouldn't use the Aquanaut under any vigorous sport activities like e.g. playing golf. WFT?! What's the point of having a sport watch if you are not using it for sport?! Oh well. Both are very special watches from two of my favorite houses. You would be happy and proud to own either, but again, they are not terribly practical watches IMO. If pushed to chose, I might actually go with the PP. No wait, the Diver. No wait... First wrist shot after unboxing, before adjusting the rubber strap Same thing on the AP ROO Diver, right after unpacking it. |

diver
really surprised how close this vote is. the two watches are completely different.
AP diver is loud and in your face and even non-wise can tell that its an expensive piece because of the brushed/polished surfaces and high-end looking design. the PP Aqua is almost the exact opposite, it is stealthy. In fact, it is so discreet that if you told someone who doesnt know PP that it cost 15k, they will not believe you. It does not have an expensive looking design. Everything about the aqua looks cheap except for the sapphire case back. |

As much as I am the biggest AP fan in the forum, on this one I would say definitely the Aquanaut!!!!
