Best way to sell a Rolex??
Hi there,
I'm selling a used Rolex for my father. It is an 18k gold President--with box and papers. I'm thinking about sellling it through Ebay, possibly using PayPal. Does anyone have any suggestions on selling? Is Ebay a good option? I'd appreciate any suggestions |

Yep. Good photos are a must; as is lots of positive feedback on your ebay account. If you don't have 100+ positive feedbacks, and a 99.5%+ rating, you'll never get top dollar. Consider asking a friend with a better rating to sell it for you.
Give as detailed a description as you can... warts and all. If your grammar and spelling aren't excellent, have somebody with excellent English skills write the description for you. Offer an inspection period and satisfaction guarantee. Encourage questions from bidders, and answer them promptly and thoroughly. Include your phone number and mailing address in your email communications. Don't use an anonymous email account like Yahoo, Hotmail or GMail. Make bidders feel certain that they can find you if they need after-sale support. PayPal is a must. Yes, it'll take a bite out of your sale, but you won't get nearly as many bidders without it. Reserve price auctions scare away a lot of potential bidders, so don't bother with the reserve. Just start the bidding at the lowest price you are willing to accept. eBay is the ultimate seller's market, if you know what you're doing. But with so many really good fakes and fakers out there, the market is skeptical about any Rolex, so you need to establish credibility in any way you can. HTH |

I would list in on our TRF sale section and on TZ also.
Fleabay would be my last choice. Be sure to take good pics of watch and all accessories.

Ebay and paypal will take around 6% of the deal total.
Make sure you get a signature and ship to a confirmed email address. I would not ship outside the USA. Paypal is not fool proof, but if you are careful you won't get taken. Remember: Confirmed address, US only, person who buys SIGNS for it. |

I would get an appraisal from an AD. The local one here said they would do it for free to appraise the value (i.e. condition) if I wanted to trade it in. It will give you a good baseline as to it's value. Age, wear & condition will effect the cost/value. Although you might get low-balled at an AD they might buy it, let you trade-in for a Rolex of your own or trade for some other piece of jewelry (unless you need the cash).
P.S. There was a post by a guy here last week that had a "rare" Submariner. It was worth far more than the standard Sub. It's worth checking with the experts first. The people here count as experts, post some pictures.

Hi, and once again: Welcome to TRF!
You might want to consider selling your watch here on TRF. You just have to post and wait for a while, then you can sell it here on "Want to sell / buy" under "Classifieds". "Forum members must be a member for a minimum of 15 days and have 15 proper posts prior to posting an item on the sales board. "
