RSC Question
If you send watch head only into RSC and don't send a bracelet will the charge be cheaper or do they still charge the same?
I'm thinking that on the invoice the polishing of bracelet isn't a itemized charge and/or it's included in price so they probably don't discount??? Also, The GMTII I bough has a nice jubilee bracelet in my opinion for it almost being 20 years old but I'm confident Rolex would be appalled! What do they do about bracelets that "they think" are no longer "good"? I think I remember seeing a post where Rolex literally MADE someone buy a clasp or something. Almost against the person's will? Sounds weird but...Will they do return my bracelet? I know they will try to pressure me to buy another but what if I don't want to? Thus my original question about not even sending it to them.... Hope this ramble made sense!!! |

Sorry, I can't answer your question, but nice watch. The gold infused ceramic bezel is cool.

I don't think they can force you to change the bracelet but they may refuse to work on the watch if the bracelet is unservicable and you refuse to change it.

These sounds like excellent questions for RSC themselves...

They don't pressure you for anything !!!
If you send in the head only, that's all they will service, but they will not discount the price.. They will not force you to buy a clasp.. If the bracelet is considered non-serviceable, they will tell you.. but you don't have to buy a new one, nor do they ever confiscate yours.. they will sell you one on trade-in only though.. If the bracelet is considered "non-serviceable", they will not reattach it to the watch..

And how would members inflate their post counts? I'm still waiting for someone to take the advice of forum members and use it against Rolex when they do what pleases them. What are you going to say, "But people I've never met over on TRF said you'd do ......."?

I would obviously not tell Rolex what TRF members said...as I know they wouldn't care! I'd just like to hear what TRF members thoughts were because I value them. |

when I sent a watch in and the band was cracked they pressured me to replace it which I was going to do anyway. I think they will pessure you to buy a new one if one is not sent in on the watch or if it is broken. but they cant make you buy a replacement one.

No discount on it, And the will give you a option on the cost estimate on a new bracelet.

Of the several watches I've sent to the Toronto RSC, each has generated an estimate of required and recommended services. If everything on the required list is done, they'll service the watch and guarantee it. If the customer balks at any of the required items, they wont service it.
Recommended services such as a bezel insert, a sapphire crystal with a minor edge chip, etc, that won't affect the integrity of the watch, you can pass on and they'll still service it.

Advice would be to pick up the phone, and/or ask one the larger AD's with on staff Rolex trained watch smiths that would know the policy.

Since we're on the subject... I have a question regarding service. I have a white gold Daytona that I've been using as a everyday beater for a year. Needless to say this watch has endured it's fair share of battle scars. If I were to send it into the RSC for service. Would they take off the factory markings on the bezel and reapply them after polishing? I can't see how else they would be able to polish the thing without removing the numbers.

RSC charged me the same costs for datejust 2004 (overhaul and polish) and datejust 1989 (more parts replaced). I asked them to inspect my GMT 1997, they found nothing was wrong, so no charge for this GMT.
