Daytona minute subdial not moving

Anyone here experienced similar issues with the subdials not moving when the chronometer/stopwatch function is active and engaged?

I just got this guy 2 days ago and noticed that the minute subdial doesn't move when my chronometer is sweeping.

So once the chronograph hand completes 60 seconds your minute dial hand doesn't advance?

that is exactly the situation. after the chronograph makes a complete lap of 60 seconds, the minute subdial hand doesn't increment at all. It stays stationary. I've let the chronograph sweep over 10 full rounds and the minute subdial hand fails to respond.

It needs to be looked at by the Dr. Something had gone wrong as you've figured out.
Bring it back to the AD.

How old is it, and where did you acquire the watch??

This is the G serial, so the AD that I bought it from in the Costa Mesa South Coast Plaza, said it was brand new.

I got this about 2 days ago. At the dealer, I didn't think to let the chronograph run for over a minute because I assumed it would have worked given that the basic start stop and reset functions worked.

Well, since it's a basically a new watch, Rolex will repair any problems it may have under warranty.
You can take it to your local AD to be sent in, or contact RUSA for directions on how to send in yourself....

let it run overnight and reset the watch. If not working still, then it will need to be looked at.

Well if this was me, I would ask the AD to just replace the watch and see if they would... Of course no guarantees but what a shame to have these troubles. I am sincerely sorry to hear this for you, please let us know how it turns out

yup no worries, i gave the AD a call and they said they would make it right. out of town for the next 2 weeks so i'll let you guys know of any developments.

it's just odd because you would expect more reliability from a rolex, but i think this just goes to show that every brand has it's own issues. This is especially true when there are so many intricate parts and so many units produced.

Try giving your watch a full manual wind the Daytona needs 60 full crown turns clockwise.Then try the chrono function try pushing the start then reset a few times if then no luck its back to AD.

If trying everything recommended here does not work I would ask that the watch be replaced. Having to send a two day old watch into the RSC for repair is not right.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I would definitely take it back and see what your AD will do to correct the problem for you. Hope you are able to get it sorted out soon.

It happens sometimes. My Sub had to go back after a couple of months. It's fine now though.

Annoying, but I'm sure they'll sort it properly for you.

They should just get you a new watch and they can deal with the issue, especially after 2 days

Why do the pictures posted show the chrono seconds hand at the same place? Has the chrono function been activated

I think the second hand sub dial runs all the time, and it doesn't appear to be in the same place in the pictures to me. Maybe I'm missunderstanding something though .

Well the sub seconds would run all the time if watch was running,its the chrono fuction thats not working.Its got to be something simple wonder did th original poster unscrew the pushers to start the chrono function.

it hasn't been activated in those pictures. and unless I take a video of the chronograph in operation, mere pictures will not reflect the issue.

I've tried all of the above recommendations. I'm taking this baby back to the AD in two weeks when I return from business. It's still keeping time, only the chronograph's hours and minutes subdials are non-functional. Kind of a bummer but I still love the watch. The stainless steel daytona is really a beauty.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your Daytona but what I do not understand is why the AD is not replacing your watch seing as it is brand new and not working properly. I'm sure though that RSC will sort out the problem and fix the watch properly but do not expect a report from them as in my experience they will not respond.....

By the time I discovered the issue with the chronograph, I was away from home on a business trip. I couldn't bring the watch back to the AD until 2-3 weeks after. The AD offered to replace it, however they could not guarantee when they would receive another one. It could be weeks to a couple of months. And even then, there is not absolute certainty that the new replacement would not have issues. Since I remained happy with the watch, I felt the better course of action would be to send it back to RSC, have it fully inspected, serviced, and repaired.

About 4 weeks later (I sent the watch in around the 14th of January), the AD called and informed me that my watch has been repaired. I'm happy with the quick turn around. The RSC performed a full complimentary service on the watch and the chronograph is now working.
