Role models & there Rolex.

Is there anyone you know or knew who inspired you to want a Rolex?

For me several years ago was the nicest guy you could meet, pleasant, successful & well liked by all. We would all meet in the Sauna after going to the gym & he would be sat there with I guess an Airking or the like, very plain.

I used to think, " wish i was more like him" the Rolex seemed to match his persona to a tee.

Few thoughts there on Rolex & past friends.

Well, I don't look externally for models of ethical codes or moral behavior. I think that the concept of a 'role model' is a modern attempt to supplant traditional standards of conduct handed down through generations, often in the context of religious and behavioral norms that were found to be most conducive to human survival and prolongation of life in a civil society.
However, the first person I saw wearing a Rolex and the one that inspired me to want one for myself was one of the most difficult, challenging, and sometimes outright mean clinical professors I trained with. This doctor was always challenging to work with as his trainee, but he took phenomenal care of his patients and he taught his charges who were willing to learn very well. He wore his YG DD everyday in the OR, and I remember the first time I saw that I thought 'someday, I will wear one of those.' Then I found out how much a President cost, and I was shocked. But, after years and years of residency training and then becoming a successful specialist physician owning my own practice, I purchased my DDII and I plan on wearing it everyday until it comes time to pass it on to one of my children.

There are two people. My dad and Eric Clapton. I've never met Clapton... yet, but both times I've seen him live, he's got a beautiful Rolex on. And pictures I see of him, he's always got a watch on, either a Patek or a Rolex. My dad got me into this whole watch thing. He had a 168000 Submariner, and I saw a bunch of photos of him wearing it. So seeing him wearing a Sub got that whole image in my mind, of one day owning a Rolex.
