Giving a Rolex to your girlfriend

I was out shopping for a Rolex Sub Green dial and had a conversation with someone in the mall. He purchased a watch for his girlfriend for valentines day.

I wonder what will the girl reaction is? Also, do you think it will overwhelm the girl? Any idea?

Nah she'd love it, just don't get her a Pepsi GMT, she might think it's ugly.

Wait: are you trying to guess what a stranger's girlfriend would think about this gift?

Are you contemplating such a purchase?

I would buy my girlfriend a Rolex in a New York second if my wife would stop objecting to the cash outlay. After all she's already got 2 Rolex's of her own.

Ha ha good one! :-D

I bought Jessica (my girlfriend) a Daytona after I bought her a $10K diamond necklace, $25K diamond studs and a $45K 3 carat diamond ring. All in the last year! I'd say she's fairly spoiled...

Rolex's are for wives no girlfriends...just one man's opinion!
You give them a Rolex Daytona for your 3rd month anniversary of dating...it's all UP HILL FROM THERE!!!

There was no mention of the girlfriend`s watch being a Rolex, maybe it was a Swatch.

Slightly different story. I recently gave my 1991 tt Thunderbird to my ex to wear until such time as our son is ready to receive and take care of the watch (son is 30 y/o). She's never asked me but I suggested that since the watch hardly got any wrist time she ought to wear it (she loves it, actually). She and I have and still remain very close since divorcing in in '81 because we had kids and now g-kids. It's at Ben Bridge for service and she will pick it up mid Feb. We're both cool with the decision.

You need to spring for a diamond first if it's serious enough and maybe a Rolex down the road when you tied the knot, otherwise give her a TAG since it's nice enough for everyday wear and won't seem to have strings attached...good luck!

I guess it all depends on how long you've been with your GF and whether you're considering marrying her in the future.

I don't think I'm cheap but..... less than a year of dating qualifies her for nice dinners and quality time spent with me =P.

All joking aside, it really depends on the seriousness of the relationship.

My recommendation is: not for the girlfriend. Will it “overwhelm the girl”? Probably not. You’ll likely just be spending too much money on someone who may or may not be in your life in the foreseeable future. Only time will tell. However, if you think this is the one, perhaps it could be the gift that tells her you mean business. Well, only a diamond says that, but this is a close 2nd. You’re call mate! Good luck!

It'd depend on the guy and the girlfriend and the relationship and the circumstances.
