1962 Rolex sub no date

I just tried a mint 1962 Rolex submariner, no date, with all original dial and bracelet.

Store find , guaranteed authenticity and 1 year warranty.

It's calling me. What submariner model# did Rolex make in 1962...?

The price was 9,800 dollars...

I have no idea about prices but a quick "google" and I found this:

In 1959 the reference 5512 was introduced. This reference was produced from 1959 through 1978, and with four calibers used over the years: Calibers 1520, 1530, 1560 and 1570. While I do not know if the reference 5512 carried the C.O.S.C. certification for its entire product lifespan, it did have the chronometer certification for many years through the end of production.

The reference 5513 was introduced in 1962, and replaced the reference 5508. The 5513 was produced from 1962 through June or so of 1990, which must be one of the longest continually produced references in Rolex history. The reference 5513 used calibers 1520 and 1530. Curiously, the caliber 1530 was used in both the 5513 and 5512 calibers for a time. The 5512 carried the C.O.S.C. certification while the 5513 using the same caliber did not have the chronometer certification.

Check to see if it is a meters first (5512).

Excellent information above by Azguy!

Post some pictures please! Would either be a early 5513 or 5512 Gilt.

It could also be a 5508 Gilt exclamation dial

I believe it's a 5513. The vintage look and feel is very captivating, though I can't see wearing that pricey of a watch. I think I'll stick with my original plant to pickup a more modern 14060 for weekend wear on a NATO, or perhaps a gmtII as a second rolex...

In the interim I picked up two super compressor watches with internal bezels from the 60's- these lower cost watches are filling the vintage curiosity need I have, for now that is...
