100th Post! --- Unhappy Delivery :( --- Just wanted a Catalog
Hey all,
It's my 100th post!!! Wish I were a bit happier tonight, but after checking my mailbox tonight I found this envelope from the USPS... "WE CARE" YEAH... they care, NOT! As I had posted before (here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...hlight=Catalog) I had called Rolex USA on January 9th to ask for the new Rolex Catalog like TTmax had posted in the above thread. The lady at Rolex USA said that she would get one right out to me. Well, today (January 17th) I received this. (The envelope is post marked January 10th by the way.) Now, I'm pretty sure that the catalog is what was supposed to be in this now empty envelope but I feel like this is a very small envelope for a catalog??? I have a large deposit down on a Sub-C LN at an AD... but I don't think Rolex would be sending me anything regarding that yet since I haven't picked up or paid-in-full yet for the watch!!! At any rate, can you let me know if the catalog is really that small? (The 100-some pages like TTmax had posted for us??) I would really like to have that catalog... Also, does anyone know how to get a "Master Catalog"??? Is that for ADs only or can a consumer obtain one? Would love to have one for my collection of Rolex stuff. Especially to have the catalog from the same "year" that I purchase my first Rolex!!! THANKS!! |

That's some pretty funny $hit. LOL. I doubt the catalog would fit in that little envelope, but it might be nice to figure out what exactly they were trying to mail to you. Can't you just run to an AD and grab a catalog?

I have 2 ADs near me (neither of which I actually am purchasing my Sub from - and the one I am purchasing from is across the state from me) but I've gone to both near me and asked for a catalog and both said they didn't have such a thing. All they had were the perpetual Spirit magazines.

Sorry to hear this seriously. But USPS is ridiculous. I have a catalog that's pretty mini. The master catalog (normally not current) can be had on ebay, pretty pricey!

I got a catalog from the AD, but I frankly can't remember the size. I also threw it away after a day and left the Perpetual Spirit magazine on the plane during a business trip.

The Master Catalogs are available on the secondary market and are rather expensive. Vintage catalogs from the 1970's and 1980's can cost upward of $1,000. The later ones are expensive also and are hard to find since the dealers are suppose to return them to Rolex.

Give Rolex USA a call and tell them the circumstances. Maybe you can send them the damaged material or at least send them pictures and ask for another.
Surely, they would be glad to accommodate you.

For whatever reason, Rolex NY won't send the A4 size catalog. That's the same size one that I've received from them on more than one try.
Chances are the envelope got caught up in a machine. It could have got caught on an open edge that the Rolex employee didn't seal all the way, or it got behind something else that was jammed up. Nothing is perfect. If you call and ask for another one, they will probably send it to you

This is messed up because the same thing happened to me and the USPS with a Panerai catalog when all I got was an envelope for Panerai with a big hole in it. Did someone really think there was a watch in there or something? Bastards!

The Rolex envelope didn't have a Window on it... only the USPS "damage control" envelope did.

I will definitely give Rolex USA (NY) a call again and ask for another. Mailman... so "A4" is the larger size catalog?? How does one get the larger one? Also, do you work with USPS? (I wasn't trying to bash USPS; just was angry at the situation.) THANKS ALL! I will let you know how it goes. I may ask Rolex to send it in a plain envelope or box even... |

Master line catalogs are numbered, and only for AD's.
Almost impossible to legally get your hands on a current one. |

Ok... called Rolex NY again and told them the story. They are going to ship me out another catalog in a discrete mailer. She also mentioned that Rolex has a huge problem with their catalogs being stolen out of the mail.
I also asked about the different sizes of catalogs. She said they offer 8"x10" and 4"x6" sized catalogs. I requested an 8x10. We'll see what happens! I will let you know if/when and how I receive it. Thanks everyone!!! |

Sorry about what happened. Never the less USPS is the safest way to ship a watch (REGISTERED).
Maybe FED EX is better? |

I hadn't really tried to collect the catalogs before, but last week I was at the AD and they had a pile about 15 high of the 8.5x11 catalogs. I asked if I could have one and they said "take as many as you want". Not knowing they're hard to get, I only took one
I was surprised too to find the pricing list inside the catalog (in NOK though). Is that normal? Are Ads normally tight with them? I also picked up a smaller booklet (see pic) and a Basel 2011 Rolex booklet. It sounds like I'll be paying another visit to the AD soon! |

I have the one with the YM II on the cover as well... got that from the AD, but I've never seen (large or small) the Oyster Perpetual catalogs at any AD I've ever been to here in the USA.

Well, I've been neglecting TRF lately :( (I've been sick and then a family member broke her leg this weekend on the ice so needless to say I've been busy).
Anyway, I FINALLY received a "replacement" catalog (small size) in the mail last Saturday (1/21). And it came in a plain white envelope with just the letters R.U.S.A. above the return address in NY. Inside that envelope was an envelope like I pictured above! THEN... this past Saturday (1/28) I received the larger size catalog as well!!! That came in a larger white envelope with the same RUSA label. Much to my surprise, they also included 2 other limited edition Rolex magazines as well (one from 2007 and one from 2009)... VERY NICE!!! THANK YOU ROLEX!!! So, even though it was a disappointment at first, all is well in the end! ***And just to note... the small and large catalogs are NOT the same material inside; there is more info and pictures in the bigger catalog.*** |

sorry but hahaha i cant stop laughing! not at the outcome, that is a shame but the fact that USPS says we understand how important your mail is so we are expediting it? well that is not much use if they lost it in the first place!!!!!! what a joke
