Huh..huh...that is cool! As well, seems like very little stretch in that original bracelet of yours.

Great tough tool watch!

How do you keep the bracelet so tight after 30+ years use?

I've never worn it loose, and showered with it on.

You say 1979, what year makes a "vintage" a "vintage"? I have a 1973 that looks awesome (getting serviced now). I'm new to this and was wondering if mines is "vintage" as well. And it is my daily wearer, but I work from home. So not much of a beating there.

That is a real beauty, I have two very similar watches. How did you maintain that bracelet? Did you wear it once in awhile?

I was a truck driver, wore it every day for decades and beat the hell out of it. I wore it in the shower daily, plus I had it snug on my wrist, both of which I believe kept the band tight.

I knew it had gone up in value, but never really kept up with it. I just liked it and enjoyed wearing it. Like I said I bought it used in "84 for $400 so it wasn't an arm and a leg thing to me. When someone at work etc who possibly knew watches would ask about it I would tell them it was a fake, a phonex.

I've been told that if I had it out of the sun in a drawer/safe the dial would show a cream patina instead of the bright white mine exhibits from all the suntanning! And the sub, on my left wrist, unlike my left chin, never experienced melanoma from all the exposure. One badass watch!

Cream, white, whatever! Great looking watch.

I like the story behind it, and why the markers are all bright white.

Very nice looking specimen. The fact that you shower with your watch on is indeed the reason the bracelet is so tight. Dirt inside the links grinds away at the metal over time and wears it down. Keeping your bracelet clean is the best way to keep it tight.

Yes, only replacement pieces are the crystal and the bezel pearl.
