Why not 3136 ... then 3137

I would have thought Rolex in keeping with the naming convention established with the 3185 - 3186 (parachrom) - 3187 (paraflex) that the movement in the SubC would have changed designators from 3135 to 3136 as it has the parachrom hairspring.

Anyone know why it didn't?

When will the 3135 get the paraflex shock resistant upgrade? Maybe at that point Rolex will give in and redesignate 3137?

Maybe announce at Basel 2012?

Thoughts?

So why does the sub's movement still say 3135?

Because it still is a 3135, just with the Parachrom hairspring. The one used in the Datejust II is different, presumably on the sizings given the added dial size on the DJ II

Essentially because it isn't a 3136 ...

More seriously and to make it simple, hairspring is an easily swappable part, so Rolex didn't modified 3135 name just for parachrom insertion.

Where paraflex is a part that modify the movment, thus explaining a name change.

3132 vs 3130 is the same, adding paraflex.

3186 vs 3185 wasn't only the changed hairspring. Mechanism was modified too.
Later on, 3187 added the paraflex.

One exception is 3131 vs 3130 : parachrom only (as far as I know).

My guess.

Yeah, why didn't Rolex put Paraflex shock systems in the Sub and DSSD?! They're sport models afterall.
