Tissot T-Touch Question?
I am looking for a casual sporty watch with a rubber strap to wear on the weekends or the gym etc etc. I am debating between the T-Touch II or the T-Touch Expert. I am not really seeing the big differences and I am debating between stainless steel or titanium. The AD said the titanium is far lighter and will not scratch as bad as the old titanium watches. He said they put a coating on their watches now and it is far better. I don't know if he is telling me the truth or not. He said the expert is the better watch but could not really explain why? The expert is more expensive so I don't know if it is worth the extra money and the dealer did not have a stainless in a rubber strap so I really could not compare the two to see if the titanium would really be that much lighter in a rubber strap. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again.

I have an older titanium T-Touch (blue dial with bracelet). I haven't seen the newer ones so I can't comment on the standard vs. expert, but two things about titanium:
1. Yes, it is that light. It's amazingly light. 2. Mine has gotten the $#*%(@)%$#*(_% scratched out of it in the ~4 years I've owned it. I don't mind it, but if scratches bother you I would strongly suggest waiting to decide until you get some feedback from somebody who owns a new one with this new coating. Overall it's a good watch, I like it a lot. The titanium and blue dial combo looks awesome and the gadget features are neat although not overly useful. Water resistance is not very good, though, the caseback on mine just pops on and off, it's not screw down or held on with screws or anything. It is also open to the air for the barometer. It's supposed to be water resistant to 30m but I do not take it swimming. This might be improved on the newer models, too. |

Glad to hear they have sorted out the issues with the touch technology.
I was fortunate enough to have my gently-used T-Touch quit just before the warranty expired. The told me to fixed the watch by replacing the entire movement. I sold the watch after the repair as I did want to have to have the same thing happen in a few months and be confronted with a then out-of-warranty repair cost involving replacing the entire movement.

Thanks for all your help thus far however I sent an email into Tissot in regard to these questions and I still have not heard back. And I have called numerous dealers in the area and I have been very disapointed with their knowledge of this watch. Any help would be great.

Try asking in a Tissot-specific forum, maybe here http://forums.watchuseek.com/f62/

The difference between the Touch II and the Expert is mainly function related - you get expanded functions on the Expert. For example, with the compass function, you get an additional azimuth function on the Expert - you get a second tier function on most, with the exception of temperature.
Certainly on bracelet, the Titanium is preferable, but on strap, there won't be a huge difference between SS and Ti Hope this helps, Chris |

I have an older non Ti model. Probably had it around 7 years now? Still havent had to change the battery. I used this watch primarily when snowboarding or mountain biking. Takes a lot of abuse and the altimeter is pretty accurate. Mostly dead on when I was in the mountains at Colorado. Fun watch for the price.
Sorry, cant comment on the Ti part but its a nice knockaround watch mostly compared to the SUUNTO. |

Hey I just got an Expert Pilot Ti the other day as a daily beater.
The bit on being more scratch resistant is prob bs, I got a nice scratch on the clasp already and was being careful, but it's the beater so no big deal. Personally I'm more concerned on its shock resistance potential than scratching it up as I tend to beat this beater hard. This thread is months old, did you pick one up? |

Thanks for the update however I ended up going in a very different direction and buying a Gshock. That tissot looks great. Enjoy!
